Capital Bank

Capital Bank was started in 1963 by a local pharmacist, Drew E. Haskins Jr. He wanted a bank in the Fort Oglethorpe area that could serve local businesses. He started this venture, which would have the name of Fort Oglethorpe State Bank, with several other local business leaders.

In 1989, the bank changed its name to Capital Bank and added a location in Ringgold, Ga. Eleven years later, Joe M. Haskins, M.D., the son of Capital Bank founder Drew E. Haskins, Jr., decided to retire from his medical practice to be at the bank on a full-time basis.

Since then, Capital Bank has seen tremendous growth in Catoosa and Walker counties, which has allowed the bank to build its third location in Chickamauga.

“There is not a day that goes by that I don’t see a customer that has been banking with us from day one,” said Joe M. Haskins, CEO of Capital Bank. “When I think how this was all possible, I always go back to my father’s vision that Capital Bank would remain a locally owned independent bank that provides excellent service.”

Capital Bank has embraced the changing fi nancial environment while staying committed to the community and taking care of its customers. This approach has allowed Capital Bank to maintain loyal customers as well as attract new ones, and gives testament to the fact that the goals and vision that Drew E. Haskins Jr. had for the bank are still intact.
