Oreck touts the benefi ts of having a clean and healthier home by using the company’s lightweight yet powerful products

In addition to his lightweight vacuums, David Oreck has fi lled his local Oreck stores with many interesting and functional products and the specialty retail store has earned the reputation as a ‘one-stop shop’ for all cleaning needs.
“People think we just sell vacuums in our store,” said Donna Johnson, the sales and operations manager for the Chattanooga, Cleveland and Johnson City stores. “We say at the Oreck store, we sell benefi ts, not products; the benefits of having a clean and healthier home by using our lightweight yet powerful products.”
Offering a lightweight 8-pound upright vacuum has enabled millions of consumers of all ages to vacuum their home without experiencing back and shoulder pain that can occur after using a heavy vacuum. In addition to their already popular vacuums, the stores offer air purifiers, dry carpet cleaning and wood floor cleaning systems, and a full line of cleaning products. With so many surfaces in the home today, the objective of the “clean home experts” is to assist the consumer in fi nding out their specific needs for their unique home design.
“Many homes today are filled with combination wood and carpet flooring, granite and stone countertops, and we find many consumers are just not totally comfortable and getting the desired results with the products they are currently using,” Johnson said. “It is our responsibility and privilege to help our customers discover new ways to maintain their homes efficiently and protect the investment they already have made in their home purchase.”
Several new products added to the line recently include additional steam products, a mattress protection line, humidifiers, and more choices on small canisters, including a couple of bag-less options. One new product line that has the Oreck “clean home experts” excited is the recent addition of the Miele canister line, a very well-known German brand that has been producing a high end, built to last canister for more than 100 years.
“Having the Oreck 30-day trial period, plus the fact we have been in this Chattanooga market for 14 years, customers know they can trust us with whatever products Mr. Oreck puts in our store,” said Vickie Wolfe, a “clean home expert” at the Chattanooga location.
Customers new and old are particularly excited about the genuine Amish fireplaces and infrared heaters, according to Wolfe.
“Sometimes, we get a little overwhelmed with all our new products coming in,” said veteran “clean home expert” Janey Sorrells. “I have been here about seven years and the product line has changed and continues to get better and better. I sometimes say, if Oreck doesn’t have it, you just don’t need it.” In addition to quality and reasonably priced products, the Oreck Clean Home Centers promote and provide legendary customer service. David Oreck’s No. 1 goal is to exceed customers’ expectations.
“We take that goal seriously,” said Johnson. “We have a lot of loyal customers that are now buying a vacuum or air purifier for children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren! It has been exciting over the past 14 years to build this business by building relationships with our customers, and we feel we make a difference in their homes and they make a difference in our lives. Many of our customers we consider friends. Sounds kind of corny, but we are truly selling benefi ts, not products, and we love what we do!”
