Two deputies had to take quick and evasive action today, one officer firing his weapon, to avoid being struck by a car driven by a suspect, according to a news release from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

A man forced his way into a Chattanooga house early this morning and shot a man inside, police said Friday.

Hamilton County's October unemployment rate fell to 6.2 percent, down from 6.6 in September, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Develoment.

The Georgia Department of Labor says that the unemployment rate in Northwest Georgia for October was 7 percent, down from 7.1 percent in September. The rate in October of last year was 7.8 percent.
