Hamilton County
Jim Coppinger is Hamilton County mayor. Commissioners appointed Coppinger in January 2010 to fill the seat of departing Claude Ramsey, who now serves as Tennessee’s deputy governor.
Fred Skillern represents District 1, which includes Sale Creek, Soddy-Daisy and sections of the county north of Red Bank. First appointed to the commission in January 2001, Skillern previously served on the Hamilton County Board of Education for 20 years.
Jim Fields represents District 2, which includes Signal Mountain and other areas along the western border of Hamilton County.
Mitch McClure represents District 3, which includes Hixson and Middle Valley. McClure is serving an interim appointment after being named by commissioners to the seat in January 2010 to fill the term of Jim Coppinger, who was named county mayor.
Warren Mackey represents District 4, which includes Avondale, Bushtown and East Chattanooga.
Greg Beck represents District 5, which includes Summit, Bonny Oaks, Woodmore and Dalewood. Commissioners appointed Beck in February 2005 to complete the term of JoAnne Favors.
Joe Graham represents District 6, which includes Lookout Valley, St. Elmo, Lookout Mountain, Downtown Chattanooga, North Chattanooga and part of Red Bank.
Larry Henry represents District 7, which includes East Brainerd, Westview and the Southeast corner of the county. Voters elected Henry in 2002, 2006 and 2010.
Tim Boyd represents District 8, which includes Missionary Ridge, Concord, Hamilton Place, East Ridge and parts of Brainerd.
Chester Bankston represents District 9, which includes Ooltewah and Birchwood.
Bill Bennett is Hamilton County’s assessor of property. Commissioners appointed Bennett assessor in September 1994.
Bill Knowles is Hamilton County Clerk. Voters first elected Knowles to the position in 1974.
Sheriff Jim Hammond was first elected in 2008. He previously spent 15 years as the department’s Chief Deputy.
Gary Behler was first elected to the Juvenile Court Clerk position in 2010.
Paula Thompson serves as Circuit Court Clerk. Voters first elected her in 2002.
Gwen Tidwell has served as Criminal Court Clerk since voters first elected her in 1994.
Pam Hurst has served as Hamilton County’s Register of Deeds since 1994.
Bill Hullander, county trustee, serves as the county's banker.
