Spring Fling 2012

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- In the moments immediately following Baylor's soccer match against Father Ryan on Thursday, sophomore defender Rafael Gaglianone knelt down at midfield to say a little prayer. Goalkeeper Henrique Ribeiro came over and joined him, and after they were finished, Gaglianone put a finger to the sky and went to celebrate with his teammates.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- The McCallie soccer attack had Father Ryan on its heels from start to finish on Wednesday, and Irish coach Robin Dieterich wasn't comfortable until the very final buzzer.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- David Lipscomb soccer coach Nathan Proffitt said after Tuesday's match that his Mustangs were going to "face the sun, because all behind us is the shadows."

A lot would ride on Baylor and McCallie, or Chattanooga Christian and Notre Dame match-ups

At the beginning of every season, coaches of all sports identify games as "must-wins."

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- For the second straight year, Murfreesboro's Riverdale High School edged Ooltewah on a Seth Guiler overtime goal in a Class AAA soccer sectional, this time 1-0 Saturday night.

The Chattanooga Christian soccer team was unable to repeat its district and region championships from a season ago.

For a portion of its Division II-AA state quarterfinal match Saturday, the Baylor soccer team was a victim of its own success.

The Notre Dame boys' soccer team's seniors have been on their fair share of 1-0 scores in Class A/AA sectional matches. This year, though, they were on the winning side of one.

With a large senior class, McCallie soccer coach Tony Meyers didn't want to see his players turn in their jerseys today. Neither did junior Hunter Brock.
