Close this place or not.....it is still not going the take care of the root problem. Do I think this is a shady place...yes. Will it take care of the violence in our city if we shut it down?..absolutely NOT! Whether it is a fight that breaks out in front of this club/church or at Coolidge Park, at a school or at the skating rink near Hamilton Place mall, things are never going to change unless there is more accountability. We are losing our kids to needless violence. We have a lot of people growing up with no guidance and/or direction for their lives. I deal with the Chattanooga youth on a daily basis and many feel "hopeless". Some people get into drugs to escape, some join gangs to feel like part of a "family". This is not a location issue, nor is it a black or white issue. Our future generation needs our generation to reach out and mentor, encourage and teach them that there are other options for their lives. We will not reach everyone and I am not naive to believe this is the "blanket" solution. But, touch one life! Start with that one person that you see struggling! In turn, maybe that person can do the same for someone else. Oh, and if we think that giving someone a "slap on the hand" when they continuously break the law, we are just setting ourselves up for worse. Do we really expect things to get better if these repeat offenders are let off with a few days in jail or a warning?
I really like watching Brees play....he is talented!
I live on Signal Mountain. I had never heard of Standing Rock Rd. I had to end up "GOOGLING" it! No WONDER I had never heard of it! LOL
When you know the victim, it is kind of hard to know he died so violently. My condolences to his family.
Not to be funny but this was kind of expected. After all, if you are in the playoffs by default, chances are you won't go very far! Congratulations to Harpeth! Most people didn't think you would win according to the paper. It is sad that a LOT of Chattanooga area teams are out in the first round!
God bless the Boring family! May He give you peace that passeth ALL understanding! To give life to others in this way is to have Kainen live on! Sorry for your loss!
This team is NOTHING like the ones East Hamilton had the previous two years...they are hungry and they have skills. I hope you go far in playoffs! I told one of your coaches that I was proud of how you played, even in the beginning of the school year, when you came to play Signal Mountain! Good job guys!
@ Legend FYI.. I am simply asking the question, what message do some of Occupy Chattanooga hope to relay by disobeying city ordinances? You compare sleeping at ROSS' Landing to SLAVERY? Never once did I say you shouldn't have freedom of speech. In fact, I stated there SHOULD be that freedom. If I had said,"We should stifle all protest" then what you said might have had merit! What I DON'T find important is to break laws when you can accomplish the same goal legally! What is really going to be accomplished in the 8 hours between 10:30pm and 6:30am? ESPECIALLY on a weekday! There is NOTHING happening and NO ONE out at that time near Ross' Landing. That is why I said wouldn't it be more beneficial to be well rested for the next day.
So it is vital to break the law to get your view heard? Who is really watching at night ANYWAY! I mean, maybe a little more news coverage? You can be there LEGALLY till 10:30 pm. This city dies after that time anyway. You can be back before most people are stirring. I don't get the logic!? Wouldn't it be more beneficial to get proper rest and be revitalized for the next day? I am all for freedom of speech but...REALLY?
