I was to have met Don at a group event in a week. It is crystal clear to me how much I have missed by not getting to meet him. It was very obvious how special he was to everyone he met.
It's a simple concept. You break the rules, you are punished. At least it used to be a simple concept. Now it seems like those rules don't apply. People like Dustin Levi can break the law repeatedly with no sense of true consequence. He obviously had the impression that the rules didn't apply to him and that the world revolved around him. Troubled or not, he broke the rules. He must be punished. Maybe in a day or a week or a month he may have turned his life around but he didn't. He made a choice and regardless of his remorse or personal issues, he must be punished.
Don was a son, brother, veteran, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, friend to hundreds, and so much more. He deserves justice. It's time for the rules to be followed.
