Talking to God

The night was dark Heavy was his heart For his Brother had gone down

He looked to the sky A tear sat in his eye Then slowly he bowed to the ground

“God I’m here to talk to you You remember me I’m sure It’s been awhile since we talked But I stand before you, once more”

“You’ve taken a most righteous brother A truer friend I couldn’t find I know it was your time for him But God, you left me behind”

“I understand you needed him But now I will travel alone I know that he’s beside you now Cause he always praised your throne”

“God, please tell him I have a message Don’t let him forget our brotherhood I know he don’t need reminding But sometimes a reminder does good”

“I don’t know how it works up there But tell him if he gets time To slide on back down here to earth To ride in spirit by my side”

“Let him know that I’ll be waiting Once again for that rebel yell The one he hollered out so often I’ll hear as the summer winds wail”

“God, there’s one more thing I need to say This is directed to you Even though we don’t talk very often One day I’ll ride with you too”
