David if you are thinking of the story portrayed in the movie 'Blind Side' you have the wrong folks. It was Leigh Anne Tuohy (who came to Signal Mountain last year)and her husband that did the noble deed, and yes Sandra Bullock played her character in the movie. Seems you have several of your facts wrong in the article.
Firstly I hate censorship and love freedom of speech. However that speech has to be civil and respectful and pertain to the story. I have myself commented on here this year and had to deal with responding to people who do not have decent communication ethics and in some cases have been hateful concerning the people in the story or even to myself. Therefore policing is neccessary just as stopping anonymity. If you have something important to say then you should have the conviction to stand behind it and be recognised. But please keep the comments section open to the public as there is definitely a need to vent (politely) over articles.
To the Eagles of course
The Signal Final score is not 21:16 according to spectators but 56:23.
Trust me Rolando, we have tried to trace her Jeep. There was no GPS or L0-Jack on it. And her VIN has not turned anything up either and the Police have a national alert out for it. Her husband managed to dispose of it somehow (chop shop, storage unit or River etc.) As for being prime suspect you can bet your a$$ that he still is. Why else would the Police still be searching if they agreed with your theory. They are doing searches and still looking for her and now working in cooperation with the C.U.E. group, but until some evidence or a witness turns up they have to avoid premature accusations and will not name him a suspect until they can confirma a crime. Certainly does not mean there was not one, just lack of evidence at them moment. But trust me they WILL get their man, just have to be patient. Some times these cases take years and you are right with the statistics, more often than not it is a family member, and not the butler, that did it.
rolando and Momus, you are both very ignorant and mean. This is the mother of two children, and these children could easily read your stupid UGLY comments. Or worse children from the neighbourhood or school could see your pathetic comments and tease these poor children. Have they not been through enough already losing their mother? But a pair of stupid dumba$$es like you adding to it helps nobody. I hope and Pray that you never have to go through the loss of a loved one and especially in such horrible and mysterious cicumstances. Of course one could assume that your comments are because you are involved and using an alias on here to cover your true identity. In which case I cannot wait to see you caught and make you eat those words.
The comments over the past few weeks show the attitude and negativity towards Signal. I am not convinced it is only Jealousy but rather IGNORANCE and perhaps the result of a poor education. Note they have had to correct their posts becuase they said it wrongly. What I do know, in my opinion, is the punishment does not fit the crime. And Signal will be back next year and just as strong as ever. In the meantime look out Sequatchie. One thing with th TSSAA decision is that obvioulsy they had problems with making it. They had a 5 hour closed door session and still could not have a majority ruling. They had to delay the vote until today. Now that should leave some to wonder at what may have transpired in the overnight hours to make some change their mind to enable them to reach a verdict. Was some outside influence considered? I will bet there are some large schools in the Nashville area who are glad Signal are out. But they had better start checking their rosters, as had all the teams in TN. This puts the TSSAA ruling above the local district County decision to allow students to transfer. That means a good athlete may have to chose between a good education or playing sports. That is not what school is supposed to be about. If the county says you can attend a school then you should also be allowed to play sports there. The TSSAA has some crazy rules and perhaps it is time to revise them and maybe check out their role and rules regarding TN school sports. And finally to the ignorant few posters on here, all you are able to do is whine and crow and post, because the Eagles beat you, academically and on the sports field. You would show more maturity and intelligence if you went back to your school and helped make it better and more competitive, instead of knocking those that succeed. I wonder how you would feel seeing your 6 hard fought wins wiped out over a technicality. Oh wait a minute, you could not win a game, let alone 6, so ignore that question.
Boy oh boy, the drama goes on. Whether Signal did this on purpose or not (and I doubt it) at the end of the day if the Appeal is dismissed, then it is the boys who lose out. This is their senior year for most of them and their last chance, and they have had their glories taken away and any chance of a State title. I would not care which school this was, it seems unfair to allow a child to attend school (authorized by HCDE) and then TSSAA decides separately whether they can play sports. That seems like too much power for TSSAA. Also there are other area athletes in the same predicament, not just at Signal. Now Homeschoolers who do not attend a school can play for the school team as long as they live in the school zone. Then you hear about soccer players playing for another school (out of zone that they do not attend) because their school does not have a soccer program. Come on folks, one rule for one, one rule for all. And leave the kids alone. If thia was an intentional 'error' then punish the school administrators that did it, and not the kids. But if it was a genuine error then let's hope that common sense and reason win out. And finally there is hatered for Signal. These negative posts prove that people who have 'no dog in the race' like to get involved and have their say and 'bash Signal'. Well freedom of speech allows their trash talk, but they are mostly ignorant when they claim Signal are rich snobs and have all the money. They had to pay to have their school built and are still paying for it. What have you done for your school and your kids? Signal has given a lot back to their community and elsewhere. There are plenty of Howard and East Ridge kids that are glad and happy to attend Signal. Signal is a great school because of all those involved and it is no wonder it is already overflowing and people move up the Mountain just so their kids can attend. Kids go to school to learn academics and not play ball, and check the stats, Signal has the results to show it is a great school. Instead of knocking the school, get off your rears, put your hand in your wallet and help make yours a good school too.
Thereal423 - They built a new combined Signal Mountain Middle High School (SMMHS). I am guessing there are around 500 High School students 9th through 12th grade. The old Middle School was sold and is now a Privately owned Athletic Gym and offices.
The article was about one of Signal's players. And the comments again turned into a bash Signal, and Coach Price for running up the score. I am not one to normally see and enjoy one-sided games. But I believe that at the expense of CCS, I would definitely have scored Maximum that night. Signal have been blasted for playing Tim McClendon and had their noses rubbed in it saying they would not have won the other 6 games without him. Well I think the results against CCS tend to discredit that. Sure Tim helped, but one player does NOT make a team. Now they cannot go to the Playoffs (unless the Appeal is upheld on Thursday) and another team with less capablility will be there in their stead. Sure I feel sorry for CCS being the ones who recievd the big score against them, but it did not matter who it was, I would have wanted to prove my team beyond all doubt and all the crap and criticism coming their way. And the last away game is against Sequatchie, who most likely will reap the benefits of the Signal TSSAA punishment and will be at the playoffs instead of the Eagles. And it is said it was Sequatchie staff who turned them in about Tim. So if you think that the score against CCS was bad, watch out for the 100 point game that Coach Price might justifiably call for. I would not want to be in Sequatche shoes that night. SMMHS may have lost the Glory of another State Title, but they will end with their heads held HIGH regardless of all the condemnation and tripe being said about them. They will know that they won the division and were robbed and the 6 games taken away from them were still HUGE wins in the eyes of the Fans and Parents and staff and Community. We are Proud of our Eagles.
