McGarity's statement that he doesn't regret his scheduling Boise State as the first game on national broadcast confounds reason if not honesty. I can tell you that at least half of a million UGA fans regret it profoundly. His reasoning that the game was an indicator of the team's abilities is so simplistic that it is intellectually vacuous. If he has any intelligence he'll realize that the indices pointed to his poor judgement. His has answer to your very good question I hope is an obtuse effort to cover his behind. Incrementally developing team and fan confidence is critical before you engage a major opponent. Of course, there is a school of thought that you throw the child in the pool with the instructions to sink or swim. I generally like McGarity but I don't like what he did which the scheduling and I certainly don't like his simplistic answer to your question.
