I campaigned/voted for/actively supported Bill Haslam for the Governor's job, and I think he will be a great one ... BUT ... I couldn't disagree with his action on this matter more. A deal is a deal, and he should in no way interfere at this juncture.

LibDem : I never suggested that it was in any way OK to evade any due taxes ... I simply stated that it is probably NOT legal to force Amazon into becoming the Tax Collector. If the actual sales transaction occurs in another state, by law, Amazon has no obligation to collect and forward the tax to any other state than the one in which the sale occurred.

Why should Amazon be singled out to collect tax when every other company doing business in the state as a warehouse/shipping facility does not ???

Mail order companies are only obliged to collect taxes FOR the state in which the sale takes place ... NOT the state from where the product is stored or shipped.

Amazon will be providing hundreds of desperately needed jobs, and now we're going to spit in their face by bending the rules to force them into an act that is not quite legal.

If a Bradley County resident is paying his/her taxes, they should be able to use any or all of the services made available by the county school system, including sports.

Wamp again runs his mouth, saying Haslam has "hundreds of conflicts of interest" because his famiy's businesses sell gas .. food .. beer .. lotto tickets ..cigarettes .. etc ..

If he was a farmer .. that would be a conflict in Wamp's eyes .. a lawyer .. yep .. a builder .. yep .. .. .. ..

Soooooo .. .. .. since Mr. Wamp is soooo hung up on these so called conflicts .. it makes you wonder just exactly what conflicts he, himself just might be involved in ?? ?? ??

Big people discuss issues .. .. small people discuss other people.

I was "on the fence" with my choice for this race until I saw Wamp's article in today's paper. I was embarrassed for him for making such an inconsiderate remark.

There's no way I could vote for a man with so little character when there is another available with so much to offer. I've met Haslam and his family, and I've met Wamp .. .. I don't find any justification for Wamp's comments .. it appears that he is already fabricating some excuses for his upcoming loss.
