Wrong, his plan is coming together. He needs a good crisis to take advantage of. This of case of Ebola probably walked across the border.

We can all agree. We need more capitalists like Arthur T. Demoulas. People should not be thought of as collateral damage. It is just good business sense. Happy employees equal happy customers. Plus, we need people in D.C. that care about their constituents. We have less than 5% in either party representing their constituents now.

Inquiringmind said, GameOn sez burger chains would close down rather than pay $15/hr. Dream on, a capitalist closing down because he has to sell his discretionary product at a price that nets a profit?? Folks will still buy burgers.

GameOn said: At $15 an hour, very few of the current fast food workers would have a job. A whole new class of workers, that could get an order right, would take their position.

I never said fast food stores would close down. If fast food jobs start paying $15 an hour, fast food jobs are going to become attractive to workers making $10 to $14 an hour in other jobs now. People with better skills will take the jobs from the people currently working them.

I am sick of overpaid teachers. Let's pay them like babysitters.

Teachers’ hefty salaries are driving up taxes, and they only work 9 or10 months a year! It’s time we put things in perspective and pay them for what they do – babysit! We can get that for less than minimum wage.

That’s right. Let’s give them $3.00 an hour and only the hours they worked; not any of that silly planning time, or any time they spend before or after school. That would be $19.50 a day (7:45 to 3:00 PM with 45 min. off for lunch and plan– that equals 6 1/2 hours).

Each parent should pay $19.50 a day for these teachers to baby-sit their children. Now how many students do they teach in a day…maybe 30? So that’s $19.50 x 30 = $585.00 a day. However, remember they only work 180 days a year!!! I am not going to pay them for any vacations.

LET’S SEE…. That’s $585 X 180= $105,300 per year. (Hold on! My calculator needs new batteries).

What about those special education teachers and the ones with Master’s degrees? Well, we could pay them minimum wage ($7.75), and just to be fair, round it off to $8.00 an hour. That would be $8 X 6 1/2 hours X 30 children X 180 days = $280,800 per year.

Wait a minute — there’s something wrong here! There sure is!

The average teacher’s salary (nation wide) is $50,000. $50,000/180 days = $277.77/per day/30 students=$9.25/6.5 hours = $1.42 per hour per student–a very inexpensive baby-sitter and they even EDUCATE your kids!) WHAT A DEAL!!!!

Timbo...I agree with you 90% of the time but you said....Teaching is a "calling?" Give me a break...Yea, the calling is that "I don't want a real job, 2 month vacations, one month at Christmas and lifetime job security with almost no chance of being fired no matter how bad I do my job."

Sir you are a fu<k*-g idiot with that statement. The job of a teacher does not end at 3:00. The first shift is over and the second shift begins. I have been married to a teacher for 25 years and she does more work in 10 months than most people do in 12. Plus, those 2 months off in the summer and 1 month during the school year are really not vacations. She still averages 35 hours a week. She genuinely cares about children and their education. She busts her A$$ around 340 days a year for the children in classroom. This Labor Day weekend, she will be working 8 hours a day for a lot of ungrateful parents just like you. Get to know a teacher before you make stupid statements.

alprova said...I see how the next few days are going to play out. People are going to scour the net for evidence of any black cop shooting white people.

My intent was to see if people would jump to the same conclusions as they did with Michael Brown. The video of the of the officer shooting the elderly man getting the cane shows the officer was fully justified and I believe the officer in Utah will probably be cleared too. No one knows the whole story in Ferguson yet but the officer has already been tried and convicted. Let the evidence be presented on both sides.
