Good on you for noting the Nuggets might have won anyway. That seems to be a point getting lost in all the hoopla over the non call. But you open the article saying there is "irrefutable evidence that an NBA referee cost" the Mavs the game. Is that not a contradiction? If Melo was sent to the line for foul shots, I can see that argument. But he made a tremendous shot. Thing is, this might be the greatest shot in Nuggets history (given the lackluster history of the franchise, that's not an overstatement). It's sad that point is getting lost in the overreaction to this non call. Melo has a history of making shots like this. The standard reaction to the non call states he wouldn't have made it after the foul was called. That's just silly. Bottom line is the Nuggets won because their best player sank an amazing shot. People losing sight of that because of something as insipid as an intentional foul attempt don't understand what is great about sports.
