I hope that the people who read this forum do not think that Joneses represents the Episcopal church. During the service of Baptism, the Priest asks a series of questions to which the people respond 'I will, with Gods help'. This is called the Baptisimal Covenant. The last question is:

Priest says: Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being? People respond: I will, with God’s help.

Page 305 Book of Common Prayer.

To respect the dignity of every human being includes people with whom you disagree. I hardly think that calling names like 'Libtard' or 'Repugnate' is respectful.

Unfortunately a lot of 'Christians' have read John 3:16, but have not read anything else in the Bible. If you read what Jesus said, he was a pretty radical guy. He was far more concerned about the poor and disenfanchised than about the powerful.

Will any of the conservatives defend Limbaugh, or will you just continue to attack liberals? Limbaugh has been spewing hate for over 20 years, and Republicans almost never denounce him. Why is that? They either agree with him, or they are afraid of him. I doubt that any posters on here have reason to fear him, so let hear it. Either defend him or renounce him.

"ITGuy -- Why do you want someone in today's Whi'ite House who despises everything America [used to] stand for? [The idiotic TFP censor refuses to post the word "Whi'ite" with an "S" -- which is a common Islamic sect or whatever. Perhaps because they see it as a double entendre."

If I believed that Obama despised everything that America [used to] stand for, then I would not support him. However to believe that I would have to suspend all critical thinking. Let me see if I got this right. We have a bi-racial child raised by a single mother with a strange foreign sounding name who grew up to be the President of the United States. It seems to me that story is a perfect example of what America [used to] stand for. I am not sure what you think America [used to] stand for. It is unclear what your second comment regarding TFP censors who refuse to post the word Whites means. However it leads me to believe that you think that what America [used to] stand for was the America of the 50's where Whites controlled everything and blacks cleaned and farmed for less than subsistance wages. That was the America where blacks were not allowed to vote. I would agree that Obama despises that, as do I and as should every true American.

Newt has repeatedly shown that he believes that the rules do not apply to him. In his public life and in his private life. He borders on pathological. Do you really wany this loose cannon in the White House?

ibshame said "the whole purpose of the cartoon is to make a statement that causes others to think about what the cartoon is portraying."

The operative word here is 'think'. When I look at today's cartoon, I think that Clay is saying that the main stream republicans want to 'drive' the primary process toward a candidate who can possibly win in November. The Tea Party wants to nominate a candidate who follows their party line, but will be totally un-electable by the independant voters.

The purpose of the forum is to present ideas in hopes of sparking a stimulating debate. It would be helpful if people would refrain from name calling and repeating lies. I have never pursuaded anyone to my position by calling them stupid.

Those who constantly bitch about Clay being liberal, are not adding to the debate. The fact that a position is 'liberal' does not mean that the position is not valid. In many cases, the liberal position is the best option to solve the problem at hand.

If you can't offer anything constructive, then keep it to yourself.

Boehner can't be out of the country. Congress is NOT in recess. If they were in recess, Obama could make recess appointments.
