you still tell lies.
Oh man I was going to retire. Orchard Knob has a brand new building and better facilities than normal park. They do not have the diversity that normal park has. Orchard Knob is almost entirely African-American, almost entirely poor kids, and all from the same neighborhood. It doesn't have a mix of kids from different backgrounds, different races, different religions, different neighborhoods. That's what diversity is, having a group of people that are different, not a group of people that are the same. Kids and parents learn from each other. Also, remember that normal park parents are required to contribute time as volunteers at the school, so Orchard Knob parents would have to buy in to that as well. I think what you are trying to imply is that Orchard Knob can't be a good school because the kids their are poor and I just don't believe that. I think Orchard Knob could be a great school, but it would take buy in from the parents, the teachers, the kids and the neighborhood. Jill Levine has done a wonderful job at Normal Park but she didn't do it alone. There was a question about teacher turnover - it is because they are fresh young teachers here who want to work hard and do a great job and not burned out ones. But I agree with you ldurham, all the schools should be as good as normal park and there should be more effort to take the things that are working here and put them in other schools rather than tear down what has been working here. Now I am retired. THanks.
Peace, you all, I will retire now. Go back to regular life. I have just gotten so upset of reading these lies and stories over and over that I got too wrapped up in it today. I hope all of your children are blessed as mine are. I am sure that there are lies and rumors and mistakes from all opinions. Rosebud should be done cutting hair in an hour or two and she probably came up with some new ideas today. It should be a fun Thanksgiving trying to figure out which family member is telling stories. Not her daughter it was a friend's daughter, who couldn't get in to normal park now goes to another school that she isn't zoned for. It's all talk anyway. But the point is the whole ONS thing takes the "pick and choose" and "discrimination" arguments off the table.
Mitta why does someone with two children at CSAS and another at creative arts care so much about that crappy old normal park school anyway - if normal park is why have you been pushing so hard about hill city?
Idurham, I know that Thurman wishes the horse was dead, she's been trying to kill it ever since she couldn't fix the lottery to get her child in and had to send her child to private school instead. She only wants to ride it when it fits her agenda, she doesn't want to listen to any facts. That's why she keeps talking about this "magic lottery" she thinks if she wasn't able to get a fix then somebody else must have. Also, Dave, I don't know how you got out of anything I said that I don't care that all children in Chattanooga get a good education. I hope every child does. I wish that every parent would give the time to schools that is required of all the normal park parents. The thing is, every kid in Chattanooga can't go to normal park, it isn't big enough to hold them. The line has to be somewhere. There are other good schools. You don't hear these "magic lottery" people complaining that to this day you can pay to send your children to preschool at Brown or Battle and get a guaranteed magnet spot there. They don't care. They only care that there was once a preschool at normal park, because that was a part of the whole lie the land speculators had to spread to increase property value in hill city. What they aren't telling you is that a few years ago they had to beg people to come to normal park and that was one way of getting people interested. People didn't want to go there. And now the preschool at normal park doesn't grant an automatic magnet spot, unlike the other magnet schools. Likes I said, They are like the bird wanting her egg back after Horton said on it and hatched it. Some people look at something that was improved and is successful and they want to tear it down.
Ordinaryguy = Chattanooga Middle was a FAILING school that parents were begging to get out of. Now it is Normal Park Magnet in that same old falling down building it is a nationally recognized school that parents are fighting like crazy to try to get in to.
Idurham my kool aid is so sweet because my children are getting a great education at a great school. Now, why are your grapes so sour?
Dave, out of the closet - two children at NPMM, we live "in the zone" in the center of a N. Chattanooga working class neighborhood in a home we rent for $800 a month. I am so very elite. Off the top of my head, Mrs. Lewis is African American, Mr. Otero is Hispanic. I don't know every teacher though and don't know about the lower school. And my fine ride is a used car from a buy here pay here, I see lots of older cars in that line despite the lies. But yeah, I do feel welcome in the fine kingdom. And 85% of the African American kids at NPMM are lottery winners. Some people lie about the lottery winners and they have no way of knowing who they are, and they have no proof, just their hunch and bias. Again that school was FAILING until NPMM took over. Apparently some would like it to fail again. They see success and think that it can't be because of hard working wonderful teachers, they think that somebody had to be cheating. That says something about them right there. And frankly I resent that the idea that is the basis of that, that somehow rich kids are better students than poor kids. That is what they are implying. I disagree that the vote was "to clean up the lottery" the vote was for "more transparency" which would mean that people wouldn't be able to come up with lies about it being "fixed."
Yes I am so elite it would blow your ordinary mind (if you don't like what somebody says just call them a name).
Rosebud everyone on here knows you are Rhonda. Get over yourself.
