Some pretty vanilla letters on the box but quite honestly that might be a good thing given the events this week.
-Hords of people would disagree with you (including myself) about the jersey thing but to each his own.
-Butch appears to have passed the recruitment test with flying colors but the real test will be in September (looking forward to it).
I guess my main topic dejour has to do with I-Man's (Not Tony Stark but the other one) big announcement that the SoCon is bringing back VMI, ETSU, and adding Mercer. Apparently the 12 point buck that was Kennasaw State is heckbent on jumping immediately to FBS land so they can be the SEC's "shower boy" for the next 10 years.
So be it.
Unfortunately, this is not going to bold well with Blackburn & Co. if they had hopes of doing a "Chattanooga First" PR campaign to target doners, students, and the community in general.
While UTC pretty much appears a shoe-in for Southern Conference Championships, it will not have the same "feel" without GSU or Appy in the mix. I'm sorry, it won't. That's like Tennessee winning the SEC Championship and not having to defeat Florida, Alabama, and A&M in order to do so. If anything, this may escalate the noise factor for either a move to the OVC OR the Sun Belt itself.
I hope I'm wrong, but something tells me I'm not.
Oh, before I forget, hoped you liked the clips. Also, Dallas 2.0 has been renewed for a third season. Something that even shocked the producers themselves given the "fragmated" ratings both in real-time and DVR. They literally blamed it on competing with "The Voice" and NOT WWE because who wants to admit to that? XD
Hey, if I could play country music AND teach Wesley Snipes how to hunt vampires AND smoke while pumping gasoline, I would be in the "most interesting" catagory as well.
"And your Tennessee-Texas A&M question is one that the league is wrestling with greatly."
Slow, cold, morning here in the Big D. I physically laugh at that scene from "After Earth" in the trailer where Will Smith warns his son "The climate will fluctuate dangerously" and we see a swamp area go from humid to deep freeze in a matter of seconds.
HA!
I deal with that everyday. The good news is yesterday in the DMN they did a story where metorlogists report the potential of a stable, wet summer. Meaning a good portion of rainfall and highs in the low to mid 80s (until mid June). In Texas between June to September, that's like saying we're be in the 60s.
Rushmore (based strictly on personal taste): Johnny Cash, Randy Owens, Kris Kristofferson, Randy Travis*
*Pre-"Cuckoo for Coca Puffs" up the road from me in Sherman (Which is literally ranch and horse country).
Alabama/A&M is becoming the "new SEC rivalry". And yes, I read all about College Station's "upgrade" as well. However, I think the big question (lopsided results be damned) is when are Tennessee and A&M going to finally play? Ever? I know Tennessee is in the East and A&M is in the West but there has to be SOME wiggle room in the scheduling.
9er wasn't the one talking like that, it was me. :P

I did read the guy's age and stats and more or less thought "shouldn't he be concluding his caree-ooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh" ::flips light switch on::
In that case, I would probably have no sympathy. It's one thing to have sencere internal conflict but it's another to play the race/gay/creed card in order to pull an organization's PC strings and win public support for your cause/career extention/etc.
But I'm no sports expert, I just tell the jokes to the keep the audience entertained in between takes. :P
I have to admit, comparing Jason Collins decision to come out of the locker with what Jackie Robinson delt with in breaking the color barrier is not even close. Janet Guthrie is more in-line with what Robinson went through to smash barriers (Even though Sara Christian is technically the first to break NASCAR's gender barrier). Doc Rivers is an idiot!
As long as Jason doesn't do anything really stupid (think Northgate Mall restroom stall fiasco that was reported in this very newspaper many moons ago), what he does on his own time is his own business. Just play ball.
Passed over Bravos coverage. It's all Greek to me. ^^()
On the other hand, YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!! is Smoke'n. He's already starting to surpass Ryan's records from 1973. Don't believe me, you will when you check your mailbox about Thursday or Friday. :P
No, I do not want Tebow playing for the Cowboys or the Titans. Get yee to a male-nunnery I say! Leave thy game to Ceasar's true gladiators who maketh rain at thy Third of Cheetah in Atlanta and packith thy heat at the clubs in Miami. He is but a square peg for a round hole.
This has been the topic of discussion numerous times on Talk Radio 102.3 (I still listen to it via streaming here in Dallas) and I'm sure it has been written about in other media sources.
There is this "law" on the books that supposedly states a building can only be built so high so as to not block the physical view of Lookout Mountain. JR once made a wisecrack on-air about what the City Council would say if Trump wanted to build a skyscraper here.
Also, while the city has garnered some key members of industry (VW, Amazon, etc), we don't have enough interest for companies wanting to construct tall buildings to set up shop here. We're doing good to try to "re-vacant" the ones now left abandoned by Blue Cross and Krystal.
Would I like to see a Stark Industries building constructed that would be taller than the old American National Bank/Suntrust building? Who wouldn't? Is it going to happen anytime soon? Not hardly.
Be thankful for what we got and know that it is getting better.
Interesting read on Yasiel Puig. Going 97 on Amnicola? It's amazing he wasn't killed on impact if someone had been pulling out. Now if it was on Corrider J, different story. I've done the "mentally I'm going 65 and look down to see my speedometer at 80" scenerio. Still, not good PR for the rising Dodger. D:
Da'Rick will probably be picked up under the radar before Bray on the account he appeared to be "drama free" his one year on Cookville. In reality, both would have been booted to NFL Europe if that organization was still around. Worse case scenerios: Arena League OR CFL.
I am not lik'n the paywall for several reasons:
-It was tried once and failed.
-The current content is controversial. I like the "Five Things You Need To Know" but the "Dumb-Dumb Cam stuff" has got to go. EVERYONE knows the people interviewed are out of towners. Also, I like "What-If" scenerios in general, but as someone with a BA in Communications at UTC who knows a thing or two about reporting, I would never consider (or approving if I was an editor) the use of "newpaper resources" to showcase homemade movie trailers I created because I was bored this past Saturday. (Note: In defense of the 5 at 10 and SoConversation, the discussions/stories have valid points worth commenting. I may not agree with the course of discussion, but there is something for everyone)
(side note) I'll reserve my opinion of Clay's latest cartoon. But as someone who lives in Dallas and respects that building we have on the West End..Not cool Clay..Not cool.
-This city is all about "free" and the "hook-up". Which I really find hysterical living in Dallas where nearly every nightspot and restaurant has manditory valet parking. Which I don't blame on the account the city does not have a lot of well-paying jobs to consider the mere concept of paying for stuff.
-DMN online is on a paywall and it's STILL deep in the red and 50 cents more for a print edition.
Great call on Pacino's portrayal of Big Boy Caprice in DT. Seriously, when "Daffy Duck's" portrayal of Dick Tracy 67 years ago is "leaps and bounds" better then Warren Batty's that says something right there.

NICE one on the bias. (My imagination running wild!)
Headline: "Hixson graduate wins Best Actor Academy Award" (see B10)
Headline: "Baylor graduate plays supporting role (aka a waiter) in new Matthew McConaughey flick" (see B1)
Also, Amnicola an't a freeway. It has a several traffic lights. But then again it was Sunday Morning so how many were flashing yellow at that time?
