"Commissioner Greg Beck did not say whether he would prefer someone local, but he said the new superintendent should have a doctorate. Former schools Superintendent Jesse Register and Scales have doctoral degrees. Smith has a master’s degree."

How did these two doctoral degrees benefit the county? Both "doctors" were bought out to move on. Let's get someone with common sense and logic to run our schools. Degrees ain't everything! Common sense goes a long way.

I also agree that a local, retired, successful CEO with no experience in the educational field (teacher, principal, etc.) would be a good choice for the next superintendent.

Has anyone stopped to do the math? If Mr. Knowles receives compensation for 52 weeks per year, his hourly compensation is $39.42 ($82,000.00 annual compensation divided by 52 weeks equals $1,576.92 per week divided by (assumably) 40 hours "at work" per week equals $39.42 per hour). How can the county afford this? If a "lowly" office employee makes this much per hour (in addition to employee benefits), HOW MUCH does the clerk make? Do Bill Knowles' other family members receive similar compensation?

I'm sure others have many more serious, unanswered questions that need to be investigated. Hamilton County is very corrupt, and it's no wonder we taxpayers are shouldering the burden of keeping these "fat cats" in a job.

Just saying.

"Ramon Morales, who arrived with his wife Erelis Marquez and stepson Jorge Gallo in March, said refugees are told something very different in Cuba. "They say they are going to take you shopping, you are going to have a fully furnished home, that someone is going to teach you the (American) system, but you get here and it's not true," he said. "I understand if they can't help, but at least I would like for them to come and say, 'I can't get you what you want or need but we will work at it,'" he said."

Just another group of illegal aliens wanting a handout. I know American citizens who don't have a "fully furnished home" yet they are not sitting around belly-aching about it. They are out trying to make their lives better. How about this, Mr. Morales -- instead of waiting for Bridge Refugee and Sponsorship Services to "work at getting you what you want or need," how about YOU and ERELIS and JORGE "working at getting you what you want or need"?? If you don't like how you're being treated by these bleeding-heart liberals in the United States of America, GO BACK TO CUBA. Maybe you can get "what you want or need" back there from Castro's Socialist government. Does that sound like it might "work" for you??

Shame on Bridge Refugee and Sponsorship Services for bringing more criminals and burdens on society to the United States of America. This sounds like another ACORN scam to me.
