I wanted to let you know about an organization that you might not be aware of...YouGiveGoods.com.

Simply put, YouGiveGoods is a website where anyone (individual, organization, company, etc.) can set up an online food drive page. They then share that web address (URL) through email and social media with family, friends, colleagues and more, driving people to their drive page. Visitors can literally buy food right there online. They receive a tax receipt via email (which you don't normally get when donating food). At the end of the drive YouGiveGoods delivers all the food to the designated recipient (food pantry/bank, soup kitchen) for you, shrink wrapped in cases, all fresh and clean. It's that simple.

No geographic limitations or logistical limitations! For instance, you can be anywhere in the country running an online food drive nationally for the victims of Hurricane Sandy and raise tons of food for the pantry of your choice. Everyone can watch in real time on the drive page and YouGiveGoods takes care of everything else.

The Salvation Army is running 26 drives on our site. http://www.yougivegoods.com/SalvationArmyHurricaneSandyRelief

Or you can do a food drive in your backyard and you can send the drive page out to everyone all over the country and they can donate.
