In too many cases, the online conversations descend into poisonous exchanges with comments that are cruel, rage-filled, racist or brimming with words you wouldn’t want your mother to hear you utter.

I agree with the TFP. Most comments have nothing to do with the article and are just rants posted to hurt, not help. Happy New Years TFP, good call.

Why is this news? According to NYC crime stats there are on average 40-50 gun arrest by that precinct each week, daily at or near the memorial. So why has this case seen national attention?

I'll let you figure it out.

It's funny how conservatives jump on the issue about people abusing the system and cry about their tax dollars being used to fund these programs, but claim to be Christians.

That's funny.

Ask any of these so called "Christians" when was the last time they did anything Christ-like and watch how many excuses you get.

The vouchers will pay all or at least a portion of a resident’s rent. The resident can choose to live anywhere, in an apartment or home, where the property owner will accept the voucher as payment.

Over a year ago my financial advisor presented me with the opportunity to invest in purchasing foreclosed homes and renting them out to low income families now, and selling once the market turns. It seemed risky at the time, but now I'm glad I did. The beauty is that these houses are in nice middle class neighborhoods. I plan on taking a loss on a couple, but the vouchers will make up for upkeep on the others. It's a win, win. Just think one of these displaced families could be moving into that vacant home next door.

Happy New Years!

The only place worse is SE and SW Washington, DC...or maybe Baltimore. And anywhere in Los Angeles.

... or Jacksonville, St. Louis, Miami, Chattanooga, Detroit, San Antonio...You get the point.
