Not sure why sandyonsignal is feeling so celebratory. "But the collective Republican field has outraised President Barack Obama $37,723 to $23,929 this year in the county ..." If that's "getting bluer every day" then how is she going to feel when the votes are cast in the same proportion?

"No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen." You don't HAVE to live in the district to be a Representative; you just have to live in the state.

If citizens can view WRCB for free with an antenna, why can't Dish Network do the same? Why should they pay for a signal the rest of us get for free?

No disrespect to Signal's players (including Mr. McClendon) or anyone else's players. Teenage kids (14-18) generally only do what the adults tell/allow them to do.

The fact is that this whole situation is the fault of the adults in question. Specifically, the football coach and the principal.

Did they falsify the paperwork of an obviously ineligible student in order to achieve wins on the field? Possibly, but I don't think anyone has the evidence to prove that.

Did they just plain screw up, not realizing that the student in question might not be eligible according to TSSAA rules? More likely. "Never ascribe to malice what can adequately be explained by incompetence."

Either way, deliberate or accidental, it is the fault of the adults.

A competent and ethical coach (and/or principal) would have realized that this was a unique situation and would have delivered all relevant facts to the TSSAA for an eligibility decision BEFORE the student ever played in a game. Because that would have preserved the integrity of each contest, and would have balanced the student's interests with those of the other students, his school, and the opposing schools.

If you want to hate on anyone, put the blame on the coach and the principal, who had the responsibility to assure that the rules were followed.

Not on the player, not on the opponents, but on the adults who (either accidentally or on purpose) screwed up.
