Was it really an assault rifle or just a basic semi automatic rifle? Its hard to imagine a drunk who acts like this with a $10k assault weapon. The press rarely gets it right, ask a marine to define assault rifle not a reporter or politician. At the very least anything suitable for "assault" would have 3 or 5 round burst fire, if not full auto.
