Thanks Meece for posting facts and keeping it real. I too live in the zone and am pregnant with my first child. I am so upset that the school could be overcrowded for my son when he needs it. I would like to commend the administration for coming up with this plan and keeping the children who are already in the school and zone in mind. The additional streets should've never been added due to the natural progression that is taking place in the zone. The school is not big enough to keep adding kids. People need to wake up and deal with facts.
ldurham, obviously something has happened to you in your life that you feel cheated and the victim since you did not make it into the 'rich and famous' club that you so obviously want to be a part of since that is all you talk about when it concerns NP. You are a toxic person for any community because you spread lies. The teachers who were removed from NP were poor performers. But I bet you are one of those tenure-people who thinks horrible teachers should maintain their jobs no matter what and not be held acountable. And your comment about making poor and/or minority students feel unwelcome...that is just stupid. Did you attend the Normalpalooza last weekend? If you did you would've seen the most diverse population of children/families EVER. It is something to be VERY PROUD of. But this isn't about NP at all with you.....it all goes back to you the victim who feels cheated because other people made something of themselves. Good luck climbing out of that hole/life you have created for yourself with that attitude.
My husband and I moved to Chattanooga and bought a house zoned for NP because we heard about the wonderful principal, teachers, staff and exceptional parent involvement. If you want your children to go to this school then do the same. The zoning should not continue to expand. Not everyone's children in the North Chattanooga area can go to this school; it's sad but a fact. The school is already busting at the seams and for people like me (pregnant with my first child due in July), the school will be overcrowded when we need it. This is exactly why the school board delayed adding the Hill City streets. The people who live in the area need to raise our kids at our school. And I agree with an earlier post, haters will always hate. Others are very jealous of the success and the pride the teachers take in their jobs and in the children at NP. Others continue to speak hate about the NP parents because of the vehicles they drive or the jobs they work VERY HARD at everyday! Wow, if that is how small-minded and low class you are, I feel REALLY sorry for your children who are learning from you and your behavior. They don't stand a chance in this world with an attitude like yours. And they will never amount to anything because you teach them to blame others for working hard and becoming successful. If you people who hate NP so much spent as much time focusing your energy on your own child's school and the needs of their schools, you would be in a much better place. Make it happen at your own school. It can be done! Demand better teachers and get involved! There is no reason why every school in this area can't be as wonderful.

Do you think the plan is unfair?

Should One North Shore condominium residents be included in the Normal Park zone?
