Oh, yeah, Chuck Conners. The Rifleman and member of the L.A. Angels of the old Pacific Coast League : http://news.sportslogos.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Screen-Shot-2012-05-25-at-08h42.02-1.png

As for the team formerly known as the Sonics before they were stolen from Seattle by Clay Bennett, a championship by the Heat would be welcome news.

You're missing the big local story. Yeah, yeah. The Lady Vols are romping. The men's team is not at that same standard, but then again, what team is. What about Vols rugby? Look at how they've performed this year :

04-Feb-2012 - Tennessee 61, Vanderbilt 3 Results / Details

11-Feb-2012 - Tennessee 20, Florida 12 - Reserves - Tennessee 32, Florida 12

18-Feb-2012 - Tennessee 71, South Carolina 7 - Reserves - Tennessee 19, South Carolina 5

25-Feb-2012 - Tennessee 56, Alabama 0 - Reserves - Tennessee 36, Alabama 10

03-Mar-2012 - Tennessee 91, Kentucky 3 - Reserves - Tennessee 29, Kentucky 0

They're not just winning. They're spanking the opposition. It's football without helmets. It's soccer where they pick up the ball and run with it. They're putting up numbers which should get the concern Cal and Utah. Yet, a big regional story gets zip attention. What gives?

Oski asks, "How can California and Stanford not even make top five or even honorable mention? SC and Notre Dame? Who cares?"

Merry Thanks.

The Pac-12 — Let's go with Big West, since Colorado is about as Pacific as BYU is East.

Nah. There's already a Big West Conference. That won't do ; however, there's a strong case to be made for the name, Twelve Pac.
