Where I grew up in the northeast events or clubs that attracted "young people" and alcohol usually had 2 or 3 police cars with lights blazing and what we called a paddywagon outside when the event was over or the club closed. I don't remember any fights breaking out when this show of force was displayed by our city police. Of course, we paid the property taxes that were necessary to have a police department sufficient enough to keep the peace. I wonder how many folks on here would support an increase in their property taxes in order to do the same thing in Chattanooga?

For anyone who can't remember the Pitts editorial that Major Fletcher is referring to, I believe it was published in the TFP back on October 1st. I happen to live in a hot bed of TEA Party followers and Mr. Pitts' description was, in my experience, accurate. Major Fletcher's description of fellow members would certainly be an exception here. That being said, Mr. Pitts writes thought provoking editorials. He doesn't represent the "media" any more than TEA Party writers do. I appreciate the freedoms that Major Fletcher defended in his career, including freedom of the press. Thank you!

These kids didn't choose to live here. They're not felons. Would it seem fair to incarcerate your kid for a couple of months only because he was born to you?

A jury of his peers (people like you and me) heard and read ALL the FACTS presented and awarded him and his attorneys $680k. Good enough for me since I wasn't there to hear and read ALL the FACTS of the case.

Here's another idea: Vote for legislators and governors who will pass and sign laws that sends DUI offenders to jail for a minimum of three months, even on the 1st offense. We need a war on DUIs.

Sorry folks, you didn't have to go to the Middle East to fight extremists who want to take away the freedoms we supposedly enjoy. We have plenty of the "Christian" variety right here in the USA who want to take those freedoms away as well. Same mentality, different label. When did we lose our way?

Of course I read the story. That's how I knew he was driving a pickup. It should be obvious that we need to at least make pickups illegal so that way we can deport the owners and then we'll cure all our DUI and drug problems. Seriously, I'm sorry when any person gets killed as the result of a violent act, especially those who put themselves in harms way for our protection. I know some "Hispanics" in this country and none of them are given to violent acts or driving drunk. Some of their ancestors were here before any white man set a foot on Plymouth Rock. I have also dealt with some drug crazed and violent white people, both male and female. Following some of the logic I see here, I should embrace all Hispanics as law abiding decent people and all of us WASPs should go back to the countries where our ancestors came from. Of course, Native Americans would probably give a loud "amen" to that.

"These people"? Who, drunks? I wasn't aware there was a fight to keep drunks in our country illegally. I'm definitely in favor of deporting all drunks. Then, let's deport everyone who drives a pickup too! Oh, they left with the first crowd? My bad!
