There is a God. God gave us free will, the ability to choose. We are the only species on this planet that has that ability. Most species react strictly on instinct. Yes, highly developed primates can be taught to make educated decisions, i.e. learn to choose. With free will we choose to become a child rapist, even though we know it is wrong. We choose to have law enforcement, a judicial system, and a penal system to ensure fairness, equality and "justice" for all. There is a God, there are also people who choose to be so liberal that even Lenin shakes his head. Unfortunately, many of them are on state parole boards or are psychiatrists that turn these "reformed", "healed", "repentant" predators back out on the streets. These are the real criminals. They "choose" to turn this animal back out. They are suppost to protect the masses not serve the criminal. They push their liberal, "everybody is ok, just different" and "he's sorry so that makes it all better" agenda to make themselves feel better. Guess none of them have ever had to pick up a four-year old little girl with a broken body or spirit and try to tell THEM it's going to be ok. While I would have no problem dropping the hammer on this suspect, we must obey the laws and let the judicial sysem do it's job. Lest we become that which we revile.

Just put him in general population. The Darwinian Process will take care of the rest.

Here is someone that is obviously educated in the school of journalism; a reporter, writer, and editor of a newspaper in a respected outlet, and he does not like to talk to people unless he generates the time and topic. People wonder why conservatives think the media is made up of "elitists"? This is the same person who would complain bitterly about the horrible customer service he received and how unfriendly the clerk was if he were not shown the proper "respect" from such a lowly person as a mere clerk. How dare that mere commoner, both working and trying to put herself through college, think she could hold a conversation with, much less the attention of, the esteemed Mr. Kennedy. Surely has the proper last name, thinks he is of Camelot.

Thanks, Mr. Roberts, now I know I am not alone. That makes a old, fat, half-crippled man with no sense of rythm much more at ease dancing at home. I am sure my wife and dog will still look at me like I need to be committed. But, then again, don't most of us past fifty?

Yes, and just like tobacco the government is going to make it illegal to "over eat". There WILL be "fat" taxes and "overweight" taxes and "fat camps" for those that do not comply, or "fat jail" for those that refuse. Don't think so, they already have these in Japan. Just another sign of socialized medicine and socialized government.

I am for the restrictions on tobacco and for safe food. But, how far are we going to allow the government into our homes and our lives? Next, regulating how many children and what sexes they can be to insure proper male to female ratios? How about racial quotas on children to promote a "healthy" diversity in the communities? My question is where do the regulations stop?

No more bootleggers and moonshiners its going to be the illegal "sweetshops" and sugar "dealers". How about a federal crime of "Illegal position of 10 pounds of pastries". Third offense is "life at the fat prison".

Parents should be responsible for their children.....to a degree. If it occurs in the parents house, yes the parents should be held accountable. If the children are outside the house and are drinking without the knowledge of the parents, then it is the childs responsibility. What ever has happened to self responsibility? If I have a drinking problem it's MY problem. I don't need anybody else's nose in my business. If I get into trouble, it's MY problem. People need to be worrying more about themselves rather than worrying about everyone else. On the other side of that is everyone needs to be self responsible. If you drink and get in trouble, you did it. One should not blame your parents, or the alcohol, or your friends. Own up to your mistake, pay your pennince, and don't do it again.

Great job by law enforcement. Considerable stolen property was recovered, the suspects are in jail, and most importantly no one was injured.....especially the LEO's. One question, with all the other documented offenses, why where these suspects on the streets to prey upon the public and endanger our lives? The bond requirements need to be stiffened on these repeat offenders.

Sooner or later they will pull that stun gun on an armed citizen. My "retirement" job is working the front desk at a hotel. Attempt to rob this location with a stun gun and find out if there is an afterlife.

Alcohol and our culture of violence is blind to race, color, religion or creed. But, I will say this: For every one of these stories we see, how many others are published that fit the general descriptions you have listed?

There is a warrant for a 31 yoa Derrick Collins for passing worthless checks. I wonder if someone came to collect on that bad check?
