Several years ago when I lost my job and became unemployed I also eventually lost my healthcare insurance. COBRA was far too expensive to maintain the monthly preimums for the insurance my employer once partially paid. After becoming unemployed, I'd put aside a few hundred dollars to pay my primary care doctor I'd been going to while still working and I was insured just in case I needed to go the doctor until I could find employment. This was the year of a severe deadly flu epidemics hitting most all across the nation.

Now to make a long story short. When I was insured with good medical insurance, my doctors' office sometimes called me. At times wanting to see me once, even twice a week. Then I became unemployed. Lost my healthcare coverage. I was one of those individuals hit horribly by the flu epidemic that year. I called my regular physician whom I'd been going to for years while employed. I explained to them I was no longer employed, no longer insured, but I would be paying in cash. The receptionist said sure, and set up an appointment for me to come right in. However, when I got there and signed my name and wrote (none) where I'd normally name my insurance carrier, the office manager refused my appointment, and I was turned away. I had about 400 bucks on me, prepared to pay whatever, ANYTHING if they'd just see me. I was sick and weak I could barely walk. I left there and made it to the emergency room, where I was seen. I wasn't placed in the hospital, but I was immediately given medication on the spot, a breathing treatment (I'm also asthmatic) and some prescriptions. I did get better and didn't end up in ICU, thank GOD. While I was unemployed and had run completely out of money except for an unemployment check, I began to go to one of the clinics operated by Erlanger. I couldn't have asked for a more nicer, professional and caring staff of people. I only had to pay 20.00 for each time I visited the clinic. And if I didn't have the 20.00 they would see me anyway. Being uninsured, medical tests were limited. As they explained without insurance there's is only so much they're allowed to do. However, being uninsured, I was grateful for the care I did receive until I could get back on my feet. Especially being asthmatic and sometimes requiring breathing treatments. If you've ever been in a situation where you can't breathe and it feels as if you're lungs are about to explode, then you know where I'm coming from.

JonRoss, in how many of those African-American deaths at the hands of African-American men were no arrests made? The nation isn't at this critical point because of what Zimmerman did, but what the city of Sanford failed to do. That was, properly investigate a homicide. Not even police with years and years of training, and even when the criminal is caught red handed are police allowed such privilege as Zimmerma apparently was.

Instead of picking sides and ripping one another to shreds you all should be grateful this Zimmerman person will likely be stopped before becoming a cop. That's what it seems he was preparing himself for. I read somewhere recently he'd already attempted this while living in Virigina, but was turned down. Somewhere like Florica, and God forbid Georgia and Tenessee, they're not as in dept and serious about screening out potentially dangerous hotheads.

yeah shifarube. Let's us DO wait until all the facts are in.

Seems like all that blood and broken nose story is falling apart.

ABC news has gotten their hands on the police headquarters video of the night in question. Guess what? No blood, no broken nose. Nothing, actually, to show a struggle of any kind. You'd think after such a scuffle the individual would be hyperventilating, sweaty too. Doesn't look like the shooter was in any kind of shock either, as originally claimed. The shooter also looks quite the athletic type. Nothing like that 2005 overweight pillsbury doughboy image.

There are many sides to that argument: "And many more were not!" ;}

Welcome 2 Sez: Don’t you think it is quite racist to state the position that the Blacks of Africa are so inept and corrupt that their destruction and salvation are, at the same time, are completely in the hands of Caucasians and Asians. They have no ability to successfully control their own destinies?

Bet you don't get to go out of town much do you? Let alone travel into other countries. Maybe the closes you've stepped was across stateline into North Georgia or Southern Kentucky?

If you're going to respond, respond entirely. Don't take anyone words out of context and use only that which suits your purpose.

Now, do some research then get back to me, OK?

happy, I only used a part of your quote for space purposes. You may agree that a part of the system needs fixin'. Reality is, that part will never be fixed. And if it gave the appearance of being fixed, it would be for appearance sake only. The courts would should replace it with somethin help. The private prison industry and their stockholders rely heavily on more and more laws that lead to incarceration. Unfortunately, that's how the judicial system has emerged. Into a money making business. It's not about correcting irresponsible or bad behavior. Some of the very people sending individuals away for longer and longer prison terms likely have stock options in the private prison business.

Example: The Pennsylvania judge who was getting kickbacks by sending juveniles to a private juvenile detention facility. Often for minor offenses. He made millions in that scheme.

It only became a mistake after the fact. When it got world attention. This is just another sad saga in many of the decline of America's image around the world. The way in which America disrespects other countries and cultures. While claiming their own is only of nobility and humanity. Sad for AMERICA!

What's happened to you AMERICA? As Lady Liberty Weeps.

whats_wrong_with_the_world said... Hunger in Somalia

The only reason there's hunger in Somalia is because powerful nations, for decades, have been dumping redioactive materials into their waters....fishing was their primary source of food supply, destroying the equatic and fresh water supply(Those Somalian pirates really aren't pirates upon closer scrutiny). They were fighting to protect their natural source of food. Their children were being sicken, born with severe deformities, dying due to their natural food sources being poisoned by powerful nations, dumping poisons into their only means of surviving). They don't give a rats rear about starving children in Somalia or anywhere else in that region. They're after the control of the natural resources in that region. From the Horn of Africa, with is abundance of fresh water supply to the Sudan with its natural minerals and precious metals. At least China went and was attempting to build up the infrastructure Europe and the west have raped, ravished and shorn for centuries. They believed in providing jobs and skills enabling Africans to take care of themselves. Europe and the west don't want a self-sufficient Africa in the hands of Africans. They prefer the pictures of starving children when in reality their hands were the primary source of Africans starving and suffering. But they'll leave them with that leather bound book with the five lettered words written across the front. The same as they did five+hundred years ago(?)

All I have to say about sani-flush Santorum is any man claiming to be a Christian himself who attacks another man in claiming that individual is not Christian* enough must be struggling with his own demons. He, Santorum, is trying to deflect attention away from that fact. He fears if people look beyond the words spewing from his pie hole they may get a glimpse of those horns sticking out on his forehead and that pitchfork and pointed tail potruding from his rear.

And Billie Graham J.R. can't ride on the coattails of his father. The rest, Gingrich and the likes ____well, they've already equally revealed themselves to be the hypocrits they truly are. Right alongside the Santorum and Graham JRs.
