If the school board needs to address issues regarding all the other schools in Hamilton County, then do it. Get them on the agenda. Maybe even more meetings are needed. The school board controls their agenda...get to work. All the whining about too much talk about NPMM is actually just the 5 school board members who voted to extend the zone not wanting to be faced with the reality of their bad decision making.

Thank you Meece for that balanced and thoughtful post. The TV media wants this issue to be about class or race. It is not - the issue is space and preserving Normal Park's magnet status. Being a magnet school makes Normal Park more diverse. The school system decided some time ago that magnet schools were a good idea. Much of Normal Park's success is due to being a magnet school. Opening the zone will create such an influx of in-zone kids that there will be no spaces for magnet students. The Central Office needs to stand up and take a position on this instead of hiding behind the parent groups. The Central Office wants Normal Park to remain a magnet school - it is time they said so. This is a magnet school issue - not Normal Park issue.

Typical response from another idiot who does not want to deal with the real issue - attack the messenger for her hat and weight. Very intelligent.

Thank you Rep. Favors for speaking out against this raving, ignorant lunatic. Your outrage is well placed and on-point. Chattanooga has come so far and does not need to be drug backwards by the likes of Ms. Thurman, Mr. Testerman, Mr. Galloway, Mr. Fairchild and Mr. Evatt. The public schools are for educating all children in Hamilton County - not for employing the friends of the school board.

Points nos. 2,3,4,6 & 8 are simply your ill informed opinion - not facts. For example, you say "Fact: Scales couldn't say his name unless his $85K mouthpiece Danielle Clark was holding his hand." While you may believe Dr. Scales relied upon Ms. Clark to much, your statement is not a fact - just an opinion. You state as fact that: "Fact: Scales' proudest achievement was approving and sneaking in retirement pay benefits ($22,000) for his swing vote, Janice "Sticky Fingers" Boydston." Really, "proudest moment"? What you state is not fact but venom.

Rosebud (Mr. Bikas), You are confused yet again between what you deem to be "fact" and actual facts.

Anyone who can will be running for Signal or Lookout Mountain schools which are somehow safe from school board attack. The rest, who can, will again resort to private schools. Those who cant afford that option will be at the mercy of the 5 rednecks on the board who do not care about quality public education. 2 steps forward and and 10 steps back. Depressing. The only way to fix this is vote the 5 out - hear that Soddy Daisy, Hwy 58, Harrison, East Ridge?
