I'm stunned at how far so many people in this town will go to try to disprove what has happened to Kristen Freeman. People who were not there and who do not know any of the facts. People who did not see her suffer through I believe it was 5 surgeries. People who take bits and pieces of the comments written here and make their own diagnoses. Bottom line, the FACTS were presented to the jury, including all the medical facts, and the appropriate award was made.
I'm pretty sure she was either on the xray table or in the wheelchair when this happened...no monitors on, no narcotics had been administered...and yes she did have sepsis...you could hardly recognize her she was so swollen...
What you must understand is that Kristen Freeman was proactive, she did call her physician not once, but twice. How dare anyone imply that she is ignorant. She was told each time by Dr. Goodman not to worry! Now, for your information, she has to have assistance to walk, to eat, will never be able to work, and can't see. Are all of you people happy now that you know that. The money is not frivolous, it's to be used for her care and therapy, she was after all only 29 when this happened to her!
For those of you who state that you would trust Dr. Goodman with your health care always and consider him to be one of the best in Chattanooga, one can only assume the following: That if he called in a prescription for you, and if he told you not to worry, you would think that there would be no need to take yourself to the emergency room; after all, you are all stating that he is the best in Chattanooga. That is the situation that Kristen Freeman found herself in the day of her procedure. She did everything that her physician told her to do. As a friend of Kristens, I can assure you that Dr. Goodman was indeed negligent in this case and should have listened to his patient more closely. Due to his negligence her life is forever changed.
