Crime in the black community by the numbers:

  1. Crime gets out of control.
  2. Police crack down.
  3. Community protests "police brutality and harassment."
  4. In response to protests, police lighten presence.
  5. Violence increases.
  6. After several traumatic deaths, a "stop the violence" demonstration is held, followed by "gang" and "hip hop" summits.
  7. Protests decrying "police neglect" are held.
  8. Repeat steps 1-7.
