JOHN J. SPITTLER, Signal Mountain aren't they still struggling to clean up that oil spill in Yellowstone National Park that took place around July of last year? An entire Tourist Town in Montana had to be evacuated. Rivers were polluted.
nucanuck, most Americans are completely illiterate when it comes to world knowledge and what's really going on in other countries. It's amazing and also sad just how little many Americans know about events around the world. Many take what they see on the news or fed by politicians as gospel.
The administration recently ruled that under ObamaCare, even religiously affiliated schools, hospitals and charities would be forced to provide birth control as part of the medical insurance plans they offer to employees.
The so-called controversial birth control rule was already law during the Bush years, and had been that way for a decade. Why are the so-called conservatives who claim to be Christians so dishonest? If they were really true to their faith you'd think they'd be afraid of God's wrath to lie like they do.
@"Romney paid about $3 million in federal income taxes -- or around 14 percent. But it is noteworthy that he also made charitable contributions totaling $3 million
What the writer doesn't mention is most, might all, of that 3 million in donations went to Romney's church. Which was likely recycled back to him in some way.
If women are going to just be used for window dressing, like minorities are often used, then what's the benefit? Just so Chattanooga can say we have our first minority, female this or that? Women, like minorities, in powerful position are often made to feel they have to prove themselves worthy of the postion or deserving of holding the position. So, like minorities, they're sometimes forced to do things that often only further harm their gender or race.
My greatest concern, and it already seem to be coming to fruition, is that every crime committed by certain segments of the population will be labeled gang. While the same crimes committed by members of other segments of the population won't. Hence, ten or less years from now Congress will have to step in to reduce another overcrowding of the prison population.

Allow me to differ with alprova who says that we on the right are lying about Obama. Were Jeremiah Wright's words G D_ America" just in jest? I think not and this view resonates with our 44th president.
You forgot about Bush referring to the Constitution as nothing but a "G'D*%$!! piece of paper!!" And he, Bush, was the leader of this "great nation." Wonder what others from his clan really really feel about America?
At least Jeremiah Wright served his country and served it well as a veteran combat Marine of the Vietnam War. While Bush sat out his days drinking and partying in the Air National Guard.
They individuals who have served time in prison to become productive citizens once released, but how can they if no one will hire them? Ironically, while in prison, and even sometimes jails, in many states the private prisons will lease prosoners out to work for companies, and the companies pay a fee to the prisons. However, upon release, those same companies won't hire them because they have a criminal record? America is so %$#! UP!! They make even third world countries look more free and humane.

Liberal mush Mountainlaurel, total mush. You don't coddle criminals.
But when cops are the ones caught committing the crimes, the first thing you conservatives do is coddle, make excuses, and blame it on the stresses of the job.
@There is often a special need for it in areas where gangs are prevalent because the children living in these areas - especially young males - grow up thinking that law enforcement officers are the bad guys - it's something they pick up from the older boys.
ml, I don't think they get it from the older guys as much as they've been present when their own family members were being mistreated by LE, or have had negative experiences themselves.

Romney, Obama leap into fray on faith, religious liberty

Attack on Mitt Romney for his tax payments is misguided

EEOC calls it 'discrimination,' in some cases, not to hire convicts
