Have to disagree with you on what you say about the "grid lock."
There is a time and place for everything, but with this Republic on the verge of another great depression in September 2008 before President Obama was elected, there WAS not any "grid lock"/stalemate occurring against the Bush W. administration when He was begging for $700 Billion Dollars TARP money for as Bush W. has said, "to prevent a possible world wide great depression. He certainly, along with the other Republicans, did not want another great depression occurring on his watch. He put a BAND AID on the condition until President Obama took over the Presidency. Then all hell broke lose from the Republicans against Obama. If you don't have an opinion on what the Republicans have done since Obama has been elected and now reelected as to whether the voters were convinced to vote for creating a "grid lock" in the US House when under the conditions we did not need any stalemates or grid locks when we needed jobs creared.
When we are not planning to break the laws of this Republic, what freedoms are the people afraid of losing? We all live under the same type of Government. The proper decisions have to be made by our elected leaders which include ALL of our CITIZENS.
Who/what would be the "controller" if our government was weakened and could not play a part in keeping the USA from allowing the 2007 deep recession from turning into another a great depression, similar to the one in 1929? If the Republicans were in control NOW, would their policies/objectives keep this Republic out of a DEPRESSION?
Another great depression could create the circumstances of having "Anarchy" to occur in the USA and even to occur world wide. From all of the indications, there are many people who would prefer to live in an "Anarchy Rule" than to live in a balanced "Republic" with laws and a government strong enough to keep the needed balanced conditions.
A person's FREEDOM is not lost when we keep our Republic's proper balance between the extremes, but more of our freedoms' would be lost under the wage gap policies that the Republicans are trying to create.
The Republicans' objectives would continue to force more people into poverty and then their policies/principles are against using our Government in helping the people with their existence. Yet, many voters go along with voting against their best interest by voting for the Republican Party after they have told by them that their objectives are for the workers and the people.
Those objectives for the 99% are for them being repressed, regressed, oppressed, depressed, digressed or a suppressed class of people. If this what the voters want, then this would be what the Republicans want for you.
Apparently, the bad judgment being shown by the Republicans from "day # one" is their trying to convince the voters that President Obama was a mistake and just getting him out of the Office and electing a Republican, AGAIN, would be "like magic" in solving all of the problems we are confronted with.
Are the voters really listening to what the Republicans are saying and associating their objectives with what would happen in the real world if they took away the governments' spending without having created production jobs through the private enterprise systems that have been investing in manufacturing plants in other countries and are "missing in action."
If this Republic went into another great depression or as has happened IN several areas from the "acts of nature" we know there would a drastic change in the 99 per centers' living conditions when they did not have their normal conveniences or the money to pay the "bills."
