Beware. Littlefield and Benson are snakes. This is a diversion tactic because they know their annexation scam can't pay for itself. The city is bankrupt and Litt/Ben want county residents to bail them out. For the record, Ham County Govt has been a great service provider to those outside Littlefield's disaster area. Thanks Ham County. I hope you prevail and I'll gladly pay more tax $$ to keep my future in the county's hands, not the greasy paws of Benson and Littlefield.

minus 22 CENTIGRADE. Headline is misleading. Other temps in article are reported as Fahrenheit.

Why isn't VW required to hire Tennessee contractors and suppliers? Tennessee and Hamilton County taxpayers are subsidizing VW's move into the area. The contract for VW's giant paint building was also given to a company outside Tennessee. Seems like a slap in the face after all the tax breaks and incentives we gave to VW.

Jobs are jobs. The UAW is dead meat and has been losing clout for a decade. Once the dust settles with bailing out Detroit, the UAW will be nothing. They foolishly agreed to take over retiree benefits for the automakers, and now the union will go broke like Detroit and the workers will be left with absolutely nothing.

Ron needs to start looking for a new job, maybe on the 3rd shift at VW in Chattanooga. Assuming VW doesn't fail in Chatt, the state and county investments will be paid back many times over. It would be nice if incentives and inducements were not standard operating procedure for luring businesses to various areas (everywhere, not just TN or Chatt), but it is a tough call as to whether denying the tax breaks is worth turning away future jobs and tax revenue.
