I came across this story somewhat later than it was published, but it brought back memories of the things my granddaddy said about the trial. He served on the jury, and as best as I can recall from the memory of a small child, he was foreman of that jury. Anything relating to the "mob" was facinating to me, considering we were just country people. The only other story he related was a trooper-friend stopping an Illinois car years earlier, that car being occupied by Al Capone on his way home from Florida.
