I am pleased that Tennessee and Georgia are lightening up on the rules regarding charter schools. If only children who perform low or go to low performing schools are able to enroll;it leaves out those who perform well, but aren't able to attend charters. It will also help low performing students to be influenced by those who already perform well. Competition gives children the motivation to do better. That combined with the innovation from the charter school will mold these kids into more confident and ambitious students. The only thing I do not like with this article is the fact that the writer used the word "poor" to describe the students who can now attend charter school in Tennessee. That is an unethical term to use to describe these kids. She should have used "less fortunate" or "lower income." The kids need confidence and calling them poor is not the best way to help aid them through their educational journey. Lets uplift our children no matter their circumstance so they don't feel any less equal than their "more fortunate" peers.
