It is very sad that the City of Chattanooga simply "cast out" a member of the police department for incurring a service related disability. I certainly hope that Officer Hoback is reinstated soon and can resume his service to the community.
It was a poor and costly decision to shove these two chiefs out the door. What a waste of the experience and expertise of these two individuals. What a waste of taxpayer money too. How about attorney's fees? Is the city going to pay those too?
Consolidation of part, if not all, of the Chattanooga Police Department along with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department is not a bad idea at all. I don't know if it would save alot of money though. It may put a lot of pressure on the county's budget especially when county officers press for equity in pay with their city counterparts. I thought a number of meetings have occurred with the city police and the county sheriff and a decent plan should have emerged by now. I may not be correct, but I thought the the City of Chattanooga has expended a decent amount of money studying this matter and hiring a "consultant".
Congratulations on an excellent operation that takes numerous drug dealers off the street. This is the first such operation of this size that I have heard of in quite some time that has been carried out by a local law enforcement organization. Thanks again!!
Congradulations to Chief Veal for a comprehensive safety program designed to slow drivers down and decrease accidents. More citations equals a safer city. The traffic stop also yields people with outstanding warrants, seizure of illegal contraband, and DUI arrests. Thanks Chief for your city taking the initiative.
This was an excellent show of support for public safety personnel throughout the State of Tennessee. Thanks Rep. Wamp for your signature as a co-sponsor for this piece of legislation. It will allow public safety personnel all over the state to sit down with their respective employers and agree to a contract. Thanks once again!
Former Chattanooga police officer awarded $680,000 after lawsuit against city
Het, whatever happened on appeal, or has a decision been made yet? Does interest accrue on the judgement until a final decision is made?

If the city and county agencies are thinking about consolidating Chief Dodd might as well stay in his current residence.
