College hill residents have a right to be worried. If their housing is torn down so Purpose Built Communities can replace it with this mixed income housing then they won't have any place to go while it's being built. And when the construction is complete there won't be housing for each of the residents, something like half of it will be low income housing. Where will the other residents go? They'll get put on the waiting list and say in a hotel. Some will end up homeless. If they want to get back into their community (which will hardly be theres after it's torn down) they have to pass background checks and credit checks. How is that fair? No one living there is going to have good credit. Very few people are going to get back into the community. After college hill gets torn down whats going to stop them from tearing down the rest of the westside? Atlanta doesn't have ANY public housing. Purpose built destroyed all of it. That's going to happen in Chattanooga if we allow it. Has purpose built reduced crime and homelessness in Atlanta? NO. The only thing good that Purpose Built Communities will bring is some pretty condos that won't scare off the tourists when they see the westside from the interstate.
