Altho this was the best thing I have ever seen the school board do one of it's members has a problem with keeping their word. Kenny Smith on newschannel 9 tells the reporter he could not vote to close 21st Century Academy after meeting a little disabled boy there and hearing their story. VERY next day is on a talk radio show telling how he voted for it. Don't bother to try to write Kenny Smith or contact him in any way all you will get in return in dead silence. The only people he will speak with is the media every 5 mns. You as one of the people who voted for him (if you did) do not matter enough to him for him to bother returning any correspondance.

Honestly it's very sad because both East Ridge Elem. schools I'm sure has a special meaning to everyone in East Ridge who attended there. My son attended East Ridge Elem. in comparison to conditions of the two schools, East Ridge Elem looks like a new school. Who can blame any teacher who has to teach is such unattractive conditions? I would have a bad day every day there. When Rodney Thompson was principal he took money from his own pocket just to paint the school to help it at least have a better feel. As far as I know he never even got so much as a Thank you for it. Why do the people in charge of schools just ignore these things? Now the news reports one school cant even afford toilet paper. This is so disgusting I cannot even type anymore to think about it.

McBrien was one of the best schools around in it's day. My daughter attended every year there the teachers were top notch. I was visiting McBrien the other day and man oh man has it totally gone to pot over the years. People who want to save it must be out of their minds. Trailers added to it (So unimpressive) the library hardly has any books IMHO. It was so sad to see how far it has gone down over the years its time to go yesterday!

So folks feel outraged when their young family member is sentenced to pay for their crimes yet the family of the innocent victim whose loved one also had a life ahead of him has forever lost their chance at a life due to the perps actions. At least your loved one will be out some day and is still alive. How soon you forget the reason they were on trial to begin with.

“In hindsight, maybe we should have said, ‘Hey, let’s do something different,’” he said. “(But) it’s just something East Ridge has always done.” "Just something East Ridge has always done." Just proves the fact that altho we elect new people we will still get more of the same. Amazing how people think we should pay all the big bucks to attorneys and City Managers but let's not build any sidewalks for the children to safetly stand on while waiting for a school bus to get an education that is required by law.

I think the news people need to get their facts straight before they publish things. Channel 9 news states that the driver of the vehicle that hit the little boy was also a nurse and administered the CPR before medics arrived and took over. Not that it makes any difference but the small details might mean a lot in some instances.

Its really sad an innocent child had to pass before people start questioning the safety at East Ridge bus stops. Now they have moved the bus stop down two streets WOW! Its just as dangerous to catch the bus there as it is where it was at it is STILL on a busy street and now it is under a hill that the speeding cars have to come over with blinding view of the street, no flashing lights, no sidewalks, no crossing guards and the little children on the Wakulla side of the street now have to cross that busy road to catch a bus. Way to go whoever dreamed up that solution is out of their mind. No one has mentioned the fact that every small child is supposed to be dropped off and picked up by an adult at these bus stops also. At least that was the rule when my son caught this bus. When did that change? or did it?

Why not take some of that money and put sidewalks in where children catch school buses and a few flashing speed signs during bus pickup hours maybe we can help save a few childrens life

I think that says it all. What if? Some innocent children on the bus were hurt? Thank goodness they weren't. Would the people on this forum have ever expressed their regrets for those children and their families? No loss can be compared to another. Their all sad and felt by those who loved them. This story even being put on the internet was a total disregard for everyone in this case. I wish Mr. Crisp would explain his point in even doing this. Apparently he has no regard for these families or the children on that bus. Sad excuse for calling himself a reporter that's for sure.
