Wow, beat the piss out of the kid, mace him, taser him? That's everybodies answer? Blame the mom, beat the mom? None of these solve anything. Getting the police involved wasn't the wisest idea either. Now the kid will be afraid of the police instead of respecting them. The school failed him. It's supposed to be staffed with teachers who are able to deal with these kind of things. And all you people who gripe about all the roles a teacher represents, get off it. Everyone in a family plays multiple roles in a household. So don't act like it's some difficult thing or that we're asking too much of them. It's their job, they picked it because they wanted to be a teacher, they obviously didn't get into it for the money. Similar to social workers.
Kids should listen when you raise your tone or threaten some action because they respect you, not because they fear you. If your kids fear you, you've failed.
