Part one of two- part to to follow soon.
Were he a politician he would use this as a chance to make a promise to promote stricter laws related to prostitution. Were he a Baptist preacher, he could repent in front of his congregation and receive God’s forgiveness and preach about it for the next 20 years and write a book and make a profit.
Equal Protection Under the Law and Innocence Until Proven Guilty are hallmarks that have distinguished the United States since the country was established. It became a model for countless nations to follow. These two civil liberties are often manipulated and are applied in various ways depending upon the circumstance. IN THIS CASE, Equal Protection should apply under the interpretation that ONLY ONE MAN OUT of ELEVEN has been publicly Singled-Out and crucified by Sensationalist MEDIA. JUST because he is an educator, it DOES NOT justify this undue focus on ONE man out of ELEVEN all accused in exactly the same way and for the same reason. Teachers, like all other citizens, should obey the civil law. Everyday, countless citizens violate laws. Only those whom have acted in ways that impact the society as a whole or are so heinous or severe generally ever receive MEDIA scrutiny. The charge this man will face is a misdemeanor; it is not a felony.
Daily countless people stand before judges to receive sentences for felonies and are not subjected to personal defamation by the media. Why should a teacher be done so? If the action has nothing to do with his job performance, students, fellow teachers, or in any way related to his chosen profession, then why should something of a personal nature be subject to such scrutiny. How many teachers engage in activities daily that may be considered immoral or even be illegal that never reflects on their performance in the classroom. Teachers are the first to be crucified by the media as if they are not allowed to have a personal life. Like many other people who are dedicated professionals, why are teachers not allowed to have a personal life? In this case either all of the men involved should have been identified, their profession disclosed and receive the same treatment as this man.
Is this man from Signal Mountain? Most teachers in the Chattanooga-Hamilton county school systems do not live in the communities in which they teach. What if he lives in St. Elmo, Red Bank, North Chattanooga? Perhaps you should gather all information before you make such statements. Yours is just as biased as what you accuse the other person of doing. When you find the area in which he lives, let us all know.
