It was beautiful Saturday to be part of a joint effort between the Muslim community and Christian community helping our fellow citizens in Apison whose lives have been torn apart by the tornado. If we could only be blind to a biased feeling, emotion or limited knowledge of people's ethnic origin or religion and get to know them we would recognize the humanity of all of us.
This has been my experience here in Chattanooga with my Muslim friends. To visit, eat, pray, talk, help others in need and journey into each other's lives in an incredible experience.
Yesterday as we Christians and Muslims were together helping people whose lives torn apart by the tornado we learned their story and entered into their lives. All of us experienced what it means to be citizens here in Chattanooga...to love each other as equals.
