Has anyone ever asked himself why warring factions woo us back into conflict as soon as we announce we're going to leave? How are they benefitting from having a US Military presence over there? And for those small-government types, what's "small government" about taking military action around the globe to shape circumstances the way we want them? That sounds a whole lot like our taxpayers paying to police the world!

I'm pretty sure that the TeaPartyGOP Co-brand needs a spin-doctor, or maybe a spin witch-doctor! See, what they've tried to do is this: Shutdown the Government, default on the debt, which would crash the economy, decimate our credit rating, thus raising interest rates and devaluing the dollar - All of this would cost our government TRILLIONS in the name of what they call "fiscal responsibility".Consider that instead of fighting universal healthcare and costing us billions/trillions (since the fight isn't over)in collateral damage costs and penalties -- We could be spending the money on - Universal Healthcare!!

What's revealing in all of this is the lack of regard for collateral damage to real folks. With no backup plan, the Tea Party/GOP co-brand is saying that they plan to fail the American People on the healthcare issue! The Tea Party/GOP co-brand has been reduced to the party of Anti-. We know that they oppose progress, but let's face it - The WORLD is moving ahead and we're way behind on making a much-needed paradigm shift! There seems but one way that the GOP can salvage, repair, and restore Grandness to the GOP. That is for them to summarily reject the Tea Party, forcing them to form their own party and go it alone. When the TEA Party is history, the GOP can begin to restore a viable two-party system to government and get the country working together, as it should. The only other alternative is for GOP incumbents who want to work for a better tomorrow, to switch parties to the Democrats and adopt their progressive agenda.

The cartoon is spot-on. The anti-Obamas, the obstructionists, the birthers, the impeachers - they're all a part of an ugly, shameful racist undercurrent. We've heard secession-talk! We've heard a call for "states' rights". This is, essentially, a minority (see Presidential election results)movement to recreate the civil war. A portion of Americans reject and oppose our President solely on the basis of his color. Whichever group stands in opposition to him, the opposition is always irrational on its face. The birthers don't question Obama's legitimacy because of WHERE he was born - They oppose it because they think that only white people are fit to occupy the White House. THAT is their legitimacy issue. It's the same thing with obstructionists. The obstructionists swore to attempt to undermine Obama from the day that he was elected. It has nothing to do with policies or direction. It has to do with the spite and vindictiveness that come from the absolute evil of racism.

I think that if the USA presumes to promote democracy around the world, we should start modeling its principles. We should start by closing down GITMO and either handing down definite sentences or releasing "detainees" (can we all admit that these individuals are no longer being simply "detained"???). No torture, no waterboarding, no further depriving them of freedom without a trial - Try them or free them!

Here's the problem with merchants getting into the political arena - They are way out of bounds with the relationship that they claim to have with EITHER employees or patrons. Chik-Fil-A is a perfect example! The relationship between Chik-Fil-A and their customers is that the restaurant provides chicken sandwiches for consumption, in exchange for money. THAT is the extent of the relationship! Similarly, the chain provides compensation for employees to hand the chicken sandwich to the customer and put the money in the register. That is the extent of THAT relationship! On what basis does Chik-Fil-A or any other chain like Hobby Lobby, presume to intrude into the personal lives of others by attempting to control their personal decisions???

Of course the GOP would try to cut the green! They've tried to cut the green (revenue) out of the budget and they try to cut all green initiatives when it comes to preserving our environment.
