My sentiments exactly, librul! F.P.S.E., our main objection to the proposed Chattanooga Village shopping center isn't simply that we're a bunch of "tree huggers". Hixson has lots of empty commercial real estate that's just sitting there, dragging the surrounding property values down. Instead of radically altering the terrain, let's work on filling up those vacant buildings first.
I've also seen several of these insects in Hixson over the past few weeks. I can handle one or two, but it makes me wonder how many "friends" are lurking nearby.
Hixson already has too many abandoned commercial areas. Why not spend some money revitalizing the empty spaces, instead of radically changing a chunk of Hixson's residential landscape?
Rezoning & building a new development here is a terrible idea! The homes that would sit directly behind this new development would see their value plummet and the traffic along Highway 153 would be a nightmare. Why waste money on clearing away the woodlands, building a new shopping complex, and conducting traffic studies, when there are several semi-abandoned shopping centers just down the road? The longer that they sit empty, the more Hixson's property values will decline in the long run. Invest in the community by revitalizing those commercial areas, Scenic Land Company.
