We have the technology to build clean sources of energy, solar, wind, geothermal, low-impact hydro. We do not need nuclear. We still have no where to put the waste. It is all being stockpiled on site at the nuclear plants waiting for a disaster. It doesn't have to be a quake or a tornado, it could be something simple as human error.
