tschieve's post is right on! good stats to back up points made. the tennessee athletic program overall has had some severe problems-not just football.
somewhere in the neighborhood of 20m in buyouts paid to the former athletic director and various coaches over the last 4-5 years. 6m alone to fulmer-highway robbery. athletics director; basketball; swimming; track; baseball as well as football have seen a bloody fortune leave the ut coffers and paid to coaches who didn't perform or were somehow caught up in scandal.
law suits filed against the ut athletic dept over discrimination.
none of this is dooley's fault is it???! the issue is how long should it take to rebuild a shambled football program. there have been flashes of brilliance here and there since he came, but to pay him 5m to leave after just three years is not a good business decision.
nor is it fair to the football program going forward to have this controversary as to whether he'll be back next year. why would the better 2013 highschool graduates (football players) consider ut when it appears the coaching staff is already on the plank............?
i don't know why many coaches left or were replaced after last year. what really happened at ky. last year? are these new coaches doing a better job than their predecessors-i don't know. the biggest concern would seem that whatever occured at ky. last year in the way of a meltdown by the ut team seems to still be lurking this year.
can that be fixed by these current coaches?
