Mayor Steele has made it perfectly clear why there was a “rush” to purchase this property. He stated he was afraid “information would circulate”. In short, the citizens may have been given notice of what is going on in East Ridge and we all know from past experience that this is not what the current City Council likes to happen. They much prefer that the Citizens operate in the dark. As an example the $700,000 deficit and where the money went.
Mayor Steele wants to equate the purchase of this property to that of Amazon and Costco. There is one huge difference in these scenarios. Hamilton County and Catoosa County both had developers lined up and ready to go. All they did was agree to rezoning and tax breaks. They didn’t rush out and buy property in the hopes that one day someone would come along and beg them to take the property off of their hands.
The City of East Ridge has purchased a dilapidated building and swamp land with no vision as to how to develop the property, the condition of the building or the suitability of the property for development. In short, just like the failed water park development and the East Ridge pool, the City Council has acted and the citizens, at the end of the day, will be left holding the bag on another $350,000 bad investment.
Steele says the property could be used for business conventions at Camp Jordan, weddings, and community events...The place is delapadated! How many thousands of dollars will have to be spent to bring that dump up to code.He is like a kid with money that is burning a hole in his pocket. The thing is its NOT his money. Thank goodness he will be gone in just a few days! Maybe then the insanity will stop. Our community already has a pool we can no longer use. Just like everything else that has been spent in recent months it is just another gamble on the part of the preacher man. Look deeper TFP there may be something in it for him or his cronies.Deficit still climbing!!!
The TBI would not be looking into this if there were not facts to back up the allegations.
Lets not forget that Mr. Sewell made over $1000 directly from the City but he also made photos off of City sponsored recreation sports activities which sums from those activities could turn out to be much more. Mr. Carroll could you look into that number?
Ms. Norris if the name changes from T.C. Thompson's Childrens Hospital, then I say we change the name of the President and CEO of Erlanger from Jim Brexler to someone else!
