Re. Bryan College I'd like to give my thoughts on the Bryan College debate. Only Christianity of all religions gives a guarantee of eternal life. Jesus said, "He that believes on Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live." Again He said, "No one comes to the Father except by Me." The Bible said, "There is no other name given among men whereby we must be saved other than the name of Jesus." The only person to claim to have come from Heaven and proved it by being raised from the grave, was Jesus. He was also the only person to die for mankind and state that this was the reason He allowed men to kill him. He said, "No man takes my life from me, I give it up freely." You either believe His testimony, or you don't. To mingle man's explanation for our existence with Jesus' authoritative words on the subject is useless. He alluded to His own knowledge of creation when He said concerning marriage, "From the beginning (Genesis) it was intended there be male and female. (Mark 10:5) So he is stating the Genesis account of creation is factual. Furthermore, His death on the cross would be useless for all mankind if man had not come from a single man, namely Adam. The reason, is that Adam's sin made all humans including himself, unfit to enter Heaven. This is called being a sinner. The single death of one flawless man, Jesus, could pay for the sins of all those who put their faith in Him and repent of their sins. If we didn't all come from the body of Adam, including Eve, then it would require a death for every individual ever born to redeem us from our sins. This is the reason why Satan and a third of all the angels who followed him and sinned against God cannot be redeemed. They cannot procreate themselves. They were created individually so it would require one death for each individual angel. Jesus would have to die on the cross possibly millions of times for all the angels. This would also be the requirement for man's redemption if we were not from a single man, Adam. So to dismiss Genesis as a figurative story that didn't literally happen is to leave mankind with no way out of our condemnation. It all boils down to one thing, God wants us to believe what He says is True. We will all believe Him when we stand before Him in judgment but it will be too late for most of us. Believing Him on this side of the grave is the only way to escape hell. The main reason people argue with the Bible is they want to hold on to their sins. This is the real problem. I hope this helps to resolve this issue in some people's minds. Wayne Meyer North Chattanooga
