as a city employee who has made comments in the past on here and other chattanooga news sites, this feels like a threat and i have to wonder now what might be in store in the days to come for myself and anyone else who works for the city who might have said something.
we have to work like every other hard working man and woman out there, what we DO NOT have to deal with is being intimidated by ANYONE while we do our jobs. this is just another sad moment in this mayors terms of SERVICE. if he is reelected after all this ...we get what we deserve.
I only have one question and it is from a city employee(myself). why is it that the one branch of this city that continues to goof things, cheat people, kill people and now MOLEST OUR CHILDREN continues to get more money than most others?
public works may not sound like much to most people in the united states ...but every year a considerable amount more of public works employees die than police officers (that's a fact). public works keeps the parks and rec. centers clean, that the police can not keep safe. public works makes sure YOUR toilets work ... might not sound like a lot but, it's an everyday job. public works treats the water you dirty up everyday so that it may be recycled into our lakes and rivers. public works is involved from the ground up in bringing new business and companies to your towns and city to create more jobs for you. public works makes it possible for you to drive to work on a road every day. these are just a few of the things public works does...we more often than not get cussed at or hand gestures from most of you ...but we continue to serve you as we always do, doing the best we can. now think about what would happen if public works stopped working like the police are so prone to doing when they don't get more and more money ....most public works employees in our city are not only under payed but near or under poverty level, yet we do the nasty un-seen and filthy work to keep you and your family happy everyday ... we may not get a bright little badge or a handgun to carry around at work but at least we can keep it in our pants!
it is a horrible thing that this child and her family will now go through and it's all because of someone who should have been able to be trusted with our lives and safety.
what i feel is happening is that with the recent government and EPA chargings to not only nashville, knoxville, but also louisville ky, ....it seems the pressure is on to get all the sewer and water line in under the umbrella of chattanooga so more money will have to be spent on city projects. to keep an open checkbook on these projects is wrong ...whats worse ....go ask or get records of what is spent out and compare it to what the city workers are payed and it is not even funny most can not ever provide for thier family by working for the city alone. yet millions of dollars are spent continuously without one thought of the worker .....
keep in mind working in sewer lines means exactly that, once you flush it does not end. it's very hazardous and yet city works most times make no more than a person working at a fast food joint.
lol no, i'm not that crazy. i do however believe they will take any instance to not only keep scared people scared and to not deliver any news worth hear or seeing but also, to keep a "shinning star " as bright as they can ... so if there is a goof up ... "well we have to sideline this so we can make more room for the scare story " ...happens all the time
this outbreak break of swine flu ....which is about as dangerous as normal flu in the 21 st century, i have to believe the national media outlets wanted to run this and make a big deal out of it for a few reasons ...and all of these have happened before 1) slow news week ...so they had to make a sensation out of something 2) to shock and scare folks into watching every news cast (i.e. "say in your homes and keep watching us we will let you know when everything is ok 3) running this meant not having to run something that was bad about the president and/or a bill or law which will change the things we do .....as long as they have the swine flu they can claim " hey we had no clue because we were dealing with the great swine flu outbreak of 2009" .... it's sad but all of that has happened in the past and it has happened here ...we will all see in the months to come whatever it was
you can argue for and/or hope that the republican party is dead. but i promise you that it is far from it ...picture it like this. a hunter lost in the woods with buzzards flying over head just hoping for him to fall over dead so they may pick apart the parts. but i can say this, that hunter will not lay his gun down and die nor will the republican party. we are shedding dead weight which is sad it took such a situation to happen. once that is over we will struggle and we will live through the next four years and once we are out of the woods, we will be going back home to the whitehouse to set right and correct the wrongs that will happen during this presidents term
as apposed to msnbc, cnn, abc, nbc, cbs, and every other left wing extremist news forum? radio seems to not be working out for the left so well ....then again never has ... but i guess if they have their way (fairness doctrine) we conservatives will not have that one media ...lol but we kick but at anything we set our minds to so i am sure we will come up with something
no europe has not turned on us, they have just never backed us in ANY international dealings we have had weather it was war or otherwise. and ya know when your at the top everyone who isn't hates you, which is what the rest of the world does every single day to us ...yes US ...you ,me and every other person living within the United States of America. you along with the rest of the left wing extreme can cow tow to them all you want for the next three years two hundred and fifty six days. but after living through this term with this whitehouse will make a believer out of a lot of people, weather you like it or not ...one term is all obama will have. those people will see that smoke and mirrors and empty promises only go so far.
and as far as 9/11 goes ...maybe just maybe if our military had not been cut so harshly by clinton ...maybe that wouldnt have taken place. talk about dropping a ball....no wait he did that intentionally ... so i guess he just "threw the game"
and strutting around? well i guess thats better than kissing the butt of every overlord and dictator in the world ..... one thing you guys will never get. no matter what we do they will always hate us and want us all dead no matter what you want to feel
we do try our best to do our job (i'm the big guy in the picture from the story) and we do need the funding to do our job correct and i thank you guys for the nice comments it kinda makes you feel like your job MIGHT be worth something after all. our jobs are constantly changing because of the damaged and aging pipe also because of the technology in the pipeline and yes the sewage industry is ever evolving. my only hope is that while the funding may be increased for the equipment that also our efforts as workers trying to "keep ahead of the game" with day to day work and technology would not go unnoticed and maybe OUR funding would also be increased. after all the equipment can not do it by itself.
I would like to know where the "courage" is. ignoring and shutting other board members up so that it does not come to light during a board meeting that a school DOES NOT have proper medical staff is not in any form "courage". you can spend our money on police for the schools but you can not spend money to ensure that the children in MY school, OUR school ,THE PUBLIC school in question are taken care of medically ?
I work hard for what i have and i am happy to give my share BUT, that share taken from me is taken with the understanding that it will be put towards helping educate our kids and make sure that while in YOUR care MY child, OUR children, this COMMUNITIES children are also taken care of. THAT INCLUDES MEDICALLY ... this is an outright sick offense and abuse of ones power and a very gross error in judgment ... one i hope is remembered at ELECTION TIME!!
