I am a Republican, and I have to side with the Democrats on this. Sarah Palin is not the most intelligent person in the world (or even close). I really hope that she is not the Republican candidate for President in 2012, although I don't think that it would guarantee Obama a second term. I'm just afraid of what may happen if she were to be elected, but I also don't want to see Obama Part II. Hopefully she won't get the Republican nomination.

The downside of incorporating would be that the business would be taxed on its income at that rate and then whatever you pay yourself would be taxed by your individual rate. It is double taxation. So if you decided to keep all of it, then it would be taxed the 20%. Then the 80% that is left over that you were to pay yourself would be taxed your individual rate.

jomo11, Jackson was committed to LSU and decommitted to go to Tennessee so LSU did recruit him. Richardson was committed to Florida and decommitted to go to Tennessee so Florida recruited him. Edwards was committed to Ohio State and decommitted to go to Tennessee.

I am not a Tennessee fan at all. I honestly would like to see Kiffin fail because I cannot even tolerate them with him as coach. The problem Tennessee will have with their football program is that Kiffin likes to run his mouth so the kids that come from respectable fanilies are not going to play for him. There have already been a couple of instances where parents have told Kiffin that they don't want their kid to play for him. Kiffin is only going to get thugs into his program. There will be many more arrests to come during the Kiffin era in Knoxville. (Think FSU and Miami combined)

I could be wrong, but I think the real issue that a lot of Christians and Conservatives have with gay marriage is the idea of calling it marriage. If they would call it something else, such as a union or partnership, and give homosexuals the same rights ,such as joint filing on income tax returns, family insurance plans, and upon death, be able to leave one's possessions with the other without the other having to pay insane amounts of taxes, then I don't it think that it would cause as much of a problem. Christianity recognizes marriage as a holy union, and the Bible teaches homosexuality as being wrong. Since the Christians believe homosexuality to be wrong, they don't want homosexuals to be able to enter into something that is holy to them. It is like a slap in the face to their beliefs.

The government should realize that this is a slap in the face to the majority religion and not upset them. The government is so worried about offending minorities of race, religion, national origin, and everything else, but they don't seem to care as much about offending the majorities. The idea doesn't sound too good to me. Upset the masses and you have a rebellion on your hands.

Easy solution: Give homosexuals the same rights. Call it something different.

CollegeGraduate,

First off, I do not like Barack Obama. Not because he is black but because he stands for big government and more government control. To suggest for people to leave the country over who is President is ridiculous. I am not going to leave because Obama is our President. Since I am an American that cares about this country rather than only myself, I am going to try to see that this country gets back on the right path by helping to make sure that Obama is not elected a second term.

Oh and just thought that I would throw this out there, does anyone else notice that everytime a group of people opposes the liberal view, all the liberals start their name calling such as racist, unpatriotic, and unamerican. They don't have a leg to stand on as an argument, so they just call people names like a child. This would be another one of those situations.

"The President is the ultimate authority in this country,"

Where did you get such an absurd idea?

The U.S. Constitution, and the just laws flowing from it are the ultimate authority in this country.

The sort of silliness quoted above is what is wrong with this country. Did you learn that at school? If so, you should go back and demand a refund because you were ripped off.

Nicely said SCOTTYM. Here in America, we use a checks and balances system, chuckii09. Maybe you came here from China or something, which would explain why you think the President has ultimate authority. That would be Communism where the dictator has ultimate authority.

Walden that description of Obama was right on.

For the guy that made the Obama Ben Laden comment earlier, people like you are part of the reason why I and many others are starting to lose hope for this country. There are so many ignorant people in our nation that I am afraid, before long, they will outweigh the intelligent ones. While I do not agree with his policies, I do not think that he is a terrorist. You could argue a socialist but not terrorist. That is just ridiculous.

Woody, this goes kind of with what you were saying earlier:

"A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within." - Will Durant

Just in case no one has kept up with this bill, the more the American people read about it, the more they dislike it. Obama and the rest of the demos want to run it through real quick so that the details don't get to the American people. This bill is nothing more than a way for Obama to enforce more government control and bring America closer and closer to Socialism. This bill is not what the Americans need. If it was so great Congress and the President would use it too instead of PRIVATE insurance. I know all the demos on here will rip me for this comment though because Obama is the second coming of Jesus to them.

Alprova, let me get this straight. You think that the government is going to straighten out insurance companies. I guess they will, kind of like how great of a job they are doing running our post office that is about to fail and how about social security that is going to run out pretty soon. They mess up everything they touch and you want them to control your health care. I know I don't.

The government IS going to come out with their own health care that will be so cheap that it will run the private insurers out of business. The government will cut prices low like that alprova in order to form their own monopoly (which is totally against capitalism but Obama is socialist so what do you expect). The problem with this healthcare is it is going to be poor health care service. Slow response times to problems, stricter lists on what doctors you can see, cheaper doctors. You may want the cheapest healthcare but you get what you pay for. Obama doesn't care that it isn't good healthcare because you better believe that him and all his Congress buddies have their own PRIVATE insurance.

Oh and alprova the comment about the Canadians coming here for healthcare being false, my neighbor is from Canada and when their parents come to the US from Canada they see doctors here because we have better health care. Nice try though.

With government provided health care, doctor visits will become more frequent. It will take forever to get an appointment with the doctor. People will go to the emergency room for minor injuries. They thought process of everyone will be "well I don't have to pay the huge deductible anymore so why not?" The elderly think that having government health care will provide them with lower rates. It will. They just won't get to see a doctor if they have a life threatening illness because the government will put it off until they die in order to avoid the payout. It happens in Canada. I know people from Canada who come down here for their health care because they cannot get into see a doctor. Is this what you people want? I know I don't. Insurance is becoming more and more costly because doctors charge more. Doctors charge more because they are being sued more often. Take away a lot of these lawsuits and you could very well fix the problem. It is ridiculous how much money some of these people get.

Using a sample wtih a size of 41 firefighters that took the test, 8 black, 8 hispanic, and 25 white, you cannot come to the conclusion that the test was racially biased. The hispanics didn't do bad on it. Maybe the whites and hispanics that took the test prepared themselves for it and the blacks did not.

Affirmative action just creates racism, in the opposite way, that it was intended to prevent. The Supreme Court ruled in the correct way. By throwing out the test that determines who is qualified and hiring based on race, the city has discriminated against the whites that scored well on the test.

If you want to find if a test is racially biased, then you need to get a larger group to sample. You cannot jump to a conclusion from a test that had 41 people take it and only 8 were from the "discriminated" group. Anyone who knows anything about statistics knows that you cannot draw conclusions from that.

Now, we need to completely do away with affirmative action. We have moved past racism for the most part. I mean we have a black President. That has to say something. There still are some that are racist but not that many, and those people will find other reasons not to hire those they discriminate against.
