as far as the question goes, you've got me sold on the plus one. if its a playoff, how do they choose whos in? bcs rankings? conference champs? then the team on the bubble will be the one whining. if your in based on your bcs rankings, then all the sec haters will be whining because you can still end up with two sec teams playing for it all.
there is natural ice...but good lord its disgusting. oh and apparently they have cell phones in the cars for twittering during the race. i mean seriously, texting and driving is bad enough, but doing it at 200 mph with about an inch and a half between you and your neighbor. what kind of example is that for the Children. totally agree with you on the crappy angle of the explosion. the one they had that actually showed the impact looked like it was shot from a cell phone camera.
Jay,
About your math problem: Your answer is actually the maximum amount of time it would take the trains to meet and would occur if they traveled thru the poles. For the shortest time, we would assume they travel along the line of latitude that goes thru chicago which is about 42 degrees. therefore the circumference at 42 degrees is 25000*cos(42)~18580. So the min time would be about 37 hrs. So it would actually take them somewhere between 37 and 50 hours. Sorry its engineers week and my nerdiness is coming out.
Aww..i forgot about that one. twilight zone is also leagues better than radar love. ok ill try again on the music front: whover sang that stupid barbie girl song.
jay,
what are you basing your "public perception" on - message boards, call in shows? im a huge vol fan as is most of my family and close friends and none of us are too worried about how long it is taking. i understand that there is a recruiting element, but as far as im concerned, it should take as long as it takes to find the right guy. i would rather it take six months to find the right guy for the job than two weeks for a bad hire. the consequences of the latter would be heavier than any consequences suffered by the former, in my opinion.
proctor,
thanks for the info; i did not know that. when i was in class the "toyota way" was always hyped and, as it was fed to us, seemed like all the credit went to the japanese for TQM.
