Just sends a bad message when you have to hire someone who has had MAJOR NCAA violations. . . . .Im glad my Alma Mater would not stoop that low, but hey if that is what UTK is and their alums dont care, then have at it

Stewwie, my question is if you are UTK, why do you have to take a risk with a convicted NCAA cheater ? ? especially one like Donnie Tyndall that is not exactly on every major schools wish list ?

BWill8, you can sugarcoat Tyndall's NCAA violations or blame Miami and the NCAA itself. . . .but Tyndall's problems were NOT things that the NCAA should fix, like stipends, etc. . .He was involved in using boosters to among other things to PAY RECRUITS, thats as dirty as it comes. UTK should not have to stoop to this win at all costs, to get a quality coach. . .shameful !

WHY, WHY would Hart hire this guy ? Tyndall may be one the biggest cheaters in College basketball !

INDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions has found Morehead State University committed major violations in its men’s basketball program. The violations pertain to a booster’s involvement in recruiting prospective student-athletes, including impermissible offers and inducements. The case also includes a failure by the head coach to monitor his basketball coaching staff members in connection with their interactions with the booster. From the fall of 2006 through April 2009, the head men’s coach, an assistant coach and other members of the men’s basketball staff had knowledge of, and at times directed or encouraged, impermissible recruiting activities of the booster. This booster, a university alumnus and financial contributor, was involved in the recruitment of more than 30 prospective student-athletes. His activities included evaluations, telephone contact, arranging workouts, assisting in the arrangement of official and unofficial visits, and offering improper recruiting inducements for prospective student-athletes. Through these activities, the booster became a countable coach, resulting in the men’s basketball program exceeding its countable coach limit by one.

The committee found that the scope and nature of the violations demonstrated the head men’s basketball coach failed to promote an atmosphere for compliance. Specifically, the head coach allowed and ENCOURAGED the booster’s assistance with the recruitment of student-athletes. The head coach also directed his staff to interact with the booster regarding recruitment efforts.

WOW ! Hard to beleive that Hart would hire a coach with this much NCAA cheating baggage. Tyndall should thank his lucky stars that in 2010 the NCAA did not give him a 2 year ban. Using a booster to pay recruits for crying out loud ! with full knowledge by Tyndall . . .What Tyndall did, that the NCAA said was over a 3 year period is WAY WAY worse than what Pearl did, Worse than what Kelvin Sampson did and worse than Calipari. . . .UTK might as well hang a sign that says " We have decided to cheat to fix our Basketball program ".....

Donnie Tyndall put Morehead State on probation for recruiting violations. Serious violations of allowing a booster to be involved in recruiting several players and paying them. The NCAAs findings said that Tyndall was aware of these violations.. . . . . .is this the kind of coach Hart wants to hire ?
